Wow oh wow just to add from our earlier Exceptional review - Movenpick Mactan Island Resort did really deliver beyond our Expectations!!! The crowning moment during our overnight stay was the biggest Bday surprise I had ever!!! We booked an overnight stay for a Deluxe Atrium View King room at their hotel for just 150 sgd with breakfast - what a great deal it was!!! At 33 sqm, it was one of the biggest and spacious hotel rooms we booked. The lobby was modern mediterranean and pastel blue and white colours are the overall tone of the hotel. Lobby was open, spacious, modern and classy. I especially loved the modern lounge chairs. The lobby toilet was also very unique because of the private room concept and the sink is Yellow Green inverted well which is also fully automatic. Checkin was fast and smooth and the staff helped carry our bags up to our room in the 20F. The room was Divine and Perfect!!! Its what we are looking for a relaxing, modern and elegant room with a bonus balcony to go with it. The room’s concept is also Tiffany Blue, Royal blue & White. We have a courtyard view and could see its other bldg and a slice of their private beach. Upon entering, toilet & shower is on the left and it has a Royal Blue wall tilings. Its huge with the sink first to your right with wall mirror, complete with all the clean towels you need. They provide container style hand wash, shower gel & shampoo. Next to the sink is the shower area with glass divider. Water pressure is strong and heating works perfectly. Only thing the floor tiling here is not downflow so the water has some leftovers because of the flat tiling. Nevertheless we loved our bathtub experience its brand new, huge and easy to fill in and drain. The toilet has no bidet fyi. Overall we loved our toilet/shower experience!!! Next is the mini-bar area on a shiny opulent white style filled with lots of drinks and snacks for purchase. They do provide complimentary bottled water/coffee/tea/kettle/glasses and mini-fridge at this area together with power outlets and compartments. Next to the mini-bar is the huge wardrobe also in white cabinet equipped with automatic lighting when you open, free slippers, an ironing board, clothes hangers and safety lock. Then just adjacent to the wardrobe is the star of the room - the high & mighty & massive King Bed. It has the softest, silkiest and cleanest mattress and blanket we have in a 5 star hotel. The huge 4 fluffy pillows add an even greater experience. We have the best sleeps of our lives. Next to the bed are 2 side tables with compartments and modern cozy lamps. There are also wall mirrors behind them. There are no power outlets near the bed so you have to charge on the study table, TV table or the mini-bar. Much to our surprise they welcomed us with a sweet ripe Mango from the Philippines with plate and tablewares for cutting - another big plus!!! Ty Movenpick for the Mangoes!!! There is a Tiffany Blue bed headrest which is another plus for your head protection and the coloring of the walls and bed frames, tables showcases Tiffany Blue like the modern lounge chair. Adjacent to the bed is the massive flat screen TV with lots of cable and local channels. There is a white table holding the TV with lots of local and cable channels and a baggage compartment as well. Wifi is also very fast and stable indeed!! Another showcase of this room is the Balcony with a courtyard view, restricted beach view and even view of Shangri la Mactan on the other side. There is a metal coffee table with glass surface and 2 white bamboo chair on the balcony which is perfect for hanging your wet clothes, having your morning coffee and just relaxing/enjoying the view. There is a Tiffany blue blackout curtain separating the glass sliding window and the bedroom.||Movenpick Mactan has a Mediterranean style massive pool which is one of the biggest I’ve experienced in a resort and also shaped like a water drop. There are lots of lounge chairs and white pool chairs on the pool itself. It also about 4 feet deep and they have a kiddie pool as well. The pool water is just the perfect temparature not too cold nor hot and very clean indeed. We loved the pool just as well loved their private beach and we took our lovely photos and videos on both of them!!! The private beach is divine, clean, tranquil and safe to swim. The beach just like private resorts in Mactan are divided by rocks and nets. The white sand is very fine and can walk comfortably. They have lots of lounge chairs and umbrellas to cover you from the heat or rain. Towels are provided by the pool so get your towels first before coming down. There is a garden and a small open cabana where we saw some exercise and fun activities. During the month of Sept high tide is in the morning before lunch so better swim this time where the waters are crystal clear tiffany blue and lots of fishes and marine life swim with you. The water is also not itchy and very calm not too wavy. They have a limestone rock island in the middle of the beach which is very scenic for taking your photos and videos and very serene by just staring at it. We swam at the beach on both high tide and low tide and each has its own unique beauty. The Low tide allows you to walk up to their safety net and along the way I saw lots of fishes and marine life like crabs, jellyfish and starfishes. Despite just staying overnight, our times at the beach is our most favourite and unforgettable we got to relax, chill, swim, and enjoy the most beautiful beach enclave we had here in Cebu!!! Other ammenity we tried at Movenpick is their huge fitness center, located on the opposite building from the courtyard it is so big and spacious perhaps the biggest gym I ever tried in my life - complete with all the equipment you need, despite a bit old it is well maintained, clean and safe. Movenpick also has free chocolate dessert time everyday from 3 to 4 PM held at their Sails restaurant - an all day dining experience. The free chocolate snack time called ‘Chocolate hour’ is offered in most Movenpick resorts and is one of a kind!!! They serve beautiful, decadent and tasty chocolate snacks and dessers like cake, cupcakes and cookies to name a few. I tried them all and I loved how they beautifully presented those chocolate snacks on a table upon entering Sails. They also have staff offering water as you enjoy your sweet, decadent and delicious chocolate desserts!!! I loved and enjoyed their Chocolate hour and this is the Grand finale upon our checkout!!! :-) Breakfast was also served at the Sails and they offers lots of options - Filipino, Asian, Western as well as lots of breads/pastries, eggs, fruits and drinks. We tried their Pork kimchi stew, Danggit, Ham, Beans, Potatoes, Porridge, Bacon, Veggies, Omelette and Adobo!!! Their all fresh, warm and delicious!!! We had mocha and cappuccino plus orange juice for our drinks which were very tasty as well!!! The place was very cozy and has some modern vibes!!! They have modern metal black round and square tables with modern rattan woven chairs. They have perfectly placed the food and drinks on different counters and there’s enough room for everyone to move around.||And finally last but not the least - Kudos to the staff of the hotel especially to Miss Fe and She for the best Bday surprise in my life ever!!! It couldn’t be even more special because I just turned 45 as well this year. During our breakfast while enjoying our delicious and sumptuous meal I got the best Bday surprise greetings, singing and cake in my life!!! We arrived half past 9 in the morning and there are only few guests having their meals. For some reason we decided to sit at the farthest corner with a view of the playground and lucky we did because we were shielded from guests on the main area to keep my shyness away. Initially, I thought their singing for someone else but as they sing I could see them approaching our table and that’s the cue that their singing it for me. I was really surprised, embarrassed, nervous and excited in short bursts of emotions but I gladly took the slice of chocolate fudge cake with Happy Bday white chocolate fondant on top with a lit candle Pink candle, smiling yet shy while their singing me Happy Bday for almost more than a minute!!! This was the best Bday surprise and gift ever for that Thank you so much to the staff of Movenpick Mactan especially to Miss She and Fe for organizing this and making it happen!!! ||Checkout was also fast and smooth and after having our Chocolate hour, we hanged out at the hotel lobby and the beach side for sometime. The big and spacious hotel lobby which is also bearing Modern Mediterranean vibes has high ceiling with metal columns and pillars in bright white tones. The white modern lounge chairs has both Filipino and Modern designs and aesthetics and the cushions bear Tiffany colours. We got relaxed and rejuvenated just by relaxing at the lobby and enjoying the beach view of Mactan seas during low tide this time were the seas are quite still.||We absolutely have the best and most wonderful time with our overnight stay at Movenpick hotel for just half the price of the nearby luxury resors we have the best luxury experience of our lives at a very affordable price!!! We experienced the best room, cleanest beach, friendliest staff and first class amenities!!! MovenPick Mactian Daghang Salamat Po and Hangtod na Usab!!!...
Read moreI want to report about a great vacation in a fantastic Hotel in Cebu.|Mövenpick Hotel Cebu is located close to the airport in Mactan. An area that is not fully developed yet. The hotel consists of 3 tower buildings, an entrance area, a pool and a private beach. There is security at the entrance. The area around is relatively quiet. Opposite Mövenpick is a nice restaurant called ‚Morning glory‘. 7/Elven is about 30 minutes by food on the same road. 200 meters away from 7/Eleven is a night market with food stalls.|The Hotel offers in the entrance area access to the main restaurant and ‚The forum‘ restaurant and a coffee area in the middle with lots of chairs.|There is also a small shop with souvenirs, snacks and drinks available. There is a big pool and a kids pool on the way to the private beach. I saw many staff who were permanently cleaning all areas. In general I have to admit that the staff was excellent; always smiling, friendly and open for a chat. They were doing their work at its best. I could even convince one reception lady to organize me some special food from a local mall. My favorite staff member is Lester from the breakfast area, because he was always smiling, polite, helpful and offen for a chat.|The vast majority of guest are from Japan and Korea. Only a very few Westerns were here.|A positive note for the activities offered, like cinema day in ‚The Forum‘; the chocolate hour in the main restaurant every day and the shows on Saturdays offer some nice extra value.|My room was perfect; very big with a living room; a bedroom and modern bathroom. The cleaning was quick and properly done every day. You will find a filled mini bar in every room. In addition you will get a balcony with a table and 2 seats for some relaxing evenings looking out to the ocean and have some beers.|All pictures from the website are authentic.||Downside|What could be improved is the price level for food and drinks. All of them are on the very high end. All of them are good, but way to expensive for Philippine standards.|Also the price for water sports activities and tours offer are way too high. All of them make a lot of fun, but for a very high price for Philippine standards.|The restaurant ‚the forum‘ is nice but missing some dishes in my eyes. I would loved to find some snacks or small bites, such as Sushi platter or cheese baked nachos. The pizza here doesn’t taste authentic Italian pizza. It is okay, but not as I wanted/expected.2 further ideas for international yummy dishes would be Currywurst with French fries (red/white) and chili con carne. |Here was nobody who really organized the mentioned table tennis tournament on Fridays at 10 am. I was waiting at the table tennis table for 30 minutes and nobody came. The staff told me then, that I would have to bring my own partner. This is bad. The hotel should be more proactive and call out a sort of tournament and mention clear dates. Then someone of the staff should be there and start the competition.|Unfortunately, the ‚Ibiza Beach club‘ was a construction site. That was really disappointing and would justify a discount in my eyes. Something I was looking for in advance and a decisive fact for me choosing this hotel was not existing. Really bad.|I had problems at the reception with both of my credit cards, Both were not accepted and I couldn’t manage to pay a deposit for my spendings in the hotel. That forced me to bring cash to the beach when I want to order a drink.|All sockets doesn’t allow western plugs. That was kind of negative surprise as I know from Thailand that they have adjusted their sockets to western plugs since a long time. But the technician solved that problem by giving me 5 adapter.||Summary:|Mövenpick Mactan, Lapu Lapu, Cebu is clearly a 5 star hotel. You pay a high price but you will get a lot of value for it. You can expect a rich breakfast, attentive and friendly staff, a private beach...
Read moreMövenpick Cebu is a vibrant beachfront resort known for its hospitality, delicious food, and comfortable amenities. However, like any destination, it has its highs and lows. Here’s a detailed look at my stay:
The Highlights Incredibly Comfortable Beds If restful sleep is a priority for you, this hotel delivers. The beds are large, plush, and provide excellent support, making them the perfect retreat after a long day of exploring or lounging by the beach. Fantastic Showers The bathrooms are well-appointed, and the showers, in particular, stand out with their strong water pressure and consistent heat—a small but significant detail that elevates your stay. A Breakfast to Remember Breakfast at Mövenpick is a treat. The spread is extensive, with fresh, high-quality ingredients catering to a range of tastes. Whether you prefer local delicacies or more familiar options, the variety ensures a great start to your day. Exceptional Staff The staff at Mövenpick go above and beyond to ensure your stay is seamless. Their professionalism, warmth, and willingness to assist with any request truly set the tone for a positive experience. Dining That Impresses All Day Long Beyond breakfast, the hotel’s dining options are consistently excellent. From lunch to dinner, the food is diverse, flavorful, and well-prepared, making every meal an occasion to savor. Efficient Elevators With 25 floors, the hotel’s three large and speedy elevators are a blessing. Guests won’t find themselves waiting long, even during busy hours. Indoor Games Area On overcast days or when you’re seeking a break from outdoor activities, the games area offers a fun alternative, especially for families or groups. Convenient Location For small conveniences, a 7-Eleven store is just a short 10-minute walk away, making it easy to pick up essentials during your stay.
Areas for Improvement Disappointing Beach Experience While the beach initially looks inviting, the reality doesn’t quite match expectations. The oversized beach beds are uncomfortable, with minimal cushioning, and the slanted sand makes lounging less enjoyable. Limited Sea Access The netted-off swimming area in the sea felt restrictive, especially if you enjoy venturing further out. However, the rocky areas nearby do offer some excellent snorkeling opportunities, with a range of marine life such as puff fish, crabs, and other vibrant species. Ibiza Beach Club Closed for Renovation One of the hotel’s signature attractions, the Ibiza Beach Club, was unfortunately closed during my visit due to renovations. The lack of prior notice was disappointing, especially since it’s a key feature many guests look forward to. Noise Levels on the Beach The beach is not the most serene spot due to external factors. Karaoke from a neighboring property starts around 10:30 a.m. and continues for most of the day, often paired with the sound of boats coming in and out. While this didn’t bother me too much, it’s worth noting for those seeking a peaceful retreat. Pool Area Needs Maintenance Although I didn’t use the pool during my stay, the poolside furniture and surrounding areas could use some care and attention to match the overall standard of the hotel.
Final Thoughts
Mövenpick Cebu offers a mix of luxury and liveliness, with standout features like its exceptional dining, attentive staff, and comfortable accommodations. While the beach experience and minor maintenance issues left room for improvement, the overall stay was enjoyable, especially for those who prioritize good food, a welcoming atmosphere, and vibrant surroundings.
For travelers looking for a blend of activity and relaxation, Mövenpick Cebu is a solid choice. However, if a quiet, idyllic beachfront escape is your main priority, you may want to consider...
