The tacos are BIG! Now I get it, the Big Tacos. Highly recommend their burritos! Even the regular one was super yummy! For each type of tacos/burritos,quesadillas etc, you will be asked to choose your choice of meat. We ordered regular 8” tacos (beef), sisig tacos 6” (x3), a California burrito (beef), regular burrito (beef), chicken quesadillas and nachos with salsa.
I think the server may have misheard us and instead of California burrito, we got tacos, which turned out to be my favorite! Would’ve wanted to try the burrito version of it.
The Regular burrito is rice mixed with smashed beans, corn and beef together, which had a very mushy overall texture which I didn’t mind because it was soft and melty, pretty tasty, so the California burrito would’ve been BOMB 👍🏼
Sisig tacos was smth I wanted to try because I like the traditional Filipino dish sisig a lot anyway. But I think sisig should just be kept on a plate as a rice dish because wrapping in the soft shell felt like eating sisig with your hand. I dont think there was any cheese so it’s just your normal sisig with 2 slices of tomatoes 1 slice of onion and lettuce, eaten with a bowl that’s a soft shell. Zero sauce. Even a lime squeeze may have changed smth out of nothing.
Quesadillas was crunchy, but not enough cheese imh, and no other sauce other than their salsa sauce which came in very small size. I think maybe one more sauce would’ve made the dish better like sour cream, guacamole, or even ranch.
The salsa they paired each dish with was very tomato-saucy. I personally do not prefer thick sauced salsa, I think they used tomato sauce 🥫 and I’m more of the fresh lime + fresh cut tomatoes, onions, chiles etc type of salsa, but who am I to say.
If there were other sauces like specialty spicy sauce or green chilly sauce it would’ve been amazing. They only had s&p, ketchup and hot sauce (like Franks red hot type)
All in all, the price is OK, not cheap but OK reasonable and good for the value only for the tacos, because the regular burrito and quesadillas were not big. In retrospect, I don’t think there were one single wedge of lime provided. 🤔 But I greatly appreciate no cilantro even though I forgot to ask them to remove it. So for cilantro lovers, there will be no cilantro (and no limes!) in this restaurant.
We went around 12:30pm and thought there would be a rush lunch hour but it was just us, and the fans that kept us somewhat breezy. They turned on the music right as we finished eating and ready to leave 😂 I did love the painting on the ceiling, please check it out! Beautiful oil painting of the ocean.
I would definitely come back for the other burritos! Something like the breakfast burrito, super...
Read moreFood: Their tacos are great, size is generous however, the nachos supreme was poorly prepared.
Service: SELECTIVE! absolutely prefers foreigners over locals. They are only prompt to foreigners. When we arrived we had to ask for the menu repeatedly. Orders took longer than others. Here's an example, foreigners were given glasses with ice together with their drinks. However we had to ask for glasses, there was no ice! We asked again then we got a block of ice (refer to the photo). These young staffs didn't even pretend that they liked us, they kept their disgusted faces when we were there. Never apologized either. But with foreigners? smiles didn't fade. We had to leave quickly due to the unwelcoming vibe.
Atmosphere: It's near the street, great music. With how we were treated? Overall, the ambience just wasn't right.
No wonder how great the reviews are...
Read moreTwo visits so far and both superb! For you Expats, the food is served hot with adequate service. Now, you'll have to get the server for refills and your check, but it's no where near as bad as most places. Now, let's talk about the food. The California Burrito with beef or pork are great. The pork quesadilla is very good too. Not like your usual quesadilla in the States, but delicious none the less. The salsa is off the chain as well. The Veggie taco was a delightful surprise especially with the aforementioned salsa! The sweet tea with Calamanci is refreshing, though a bit sweeter than I'm accustomed too. Prices are reasonable as well, it's worth the price they're asking. It's worth grabbing a trike up there if you're looking for a light lunch or...
