Unclebob seafood BBQ Restaurant — Restaurant in Lapu-Lapu

First of all, the name will catch your attention — Uncle Bob Seafood and BBQ Restaurant. Sounds like an American-style grill, right? Wrong. To my surprise, it’s actually Korean-owned.

The menu has a mix of Korean, Filipino, and seafood dishes, so we thought we’d give it a shot. Big mistake.

Sisig – 1⭐. Greasy beyond saving, and instead of the authentic pork face, ears, and belly, they just used pork belly. Might as well call it oil on a sizzling plate.

Lumpia Shanghai – Ordered Shanghai, got lumpia togue instead. Oil-soaked too. Total scam.

Chicken Skewers – Tender but bland. No flavor inside, just a smoky outside. 1⭐ for the grill smoke, I guess.

Baked Scallops – Absolute disaster. Served cold, cheese half-melted, scallops tasted like they’ve been chilling in the freezer for a year. 0⭐.

Kimchi Rice – The only decent dish, but then again, it’s expected since they’re Korean. Nothing special, just passable.

Kangkong with Oyster Sauce – Honestly, my Grade 7 brother could’ve cooked it better. Enough said.

The vibe of the place? More bar than restaurant, which would’ve been fine if the food was at least edible. But with overpriced dishes, you’re basically just paying for the aircon.

I don’t have photos of anything because I wasn’t really impressed. We had the kimchi fried rice, a salad, chicken wings and some other things that I probably can’t remember but probably for a good reason.

It was a little hot in there, they had fans… I wasn’t a fan. I suppose they delivered the best they could but was a little underwhelming to be honest. It’s nestled away upstairs from this supermarket and possibly for good reason. The staff is very nice and attentive but the food didn’t deliver by any means. The ladies at the table next to us ordered a fest and seemed to be enjoying themselves but it only left me wondering if we were at the same restaurant. Mehhhhhh, if the price were cut in half maybe it would make sense for...

We got the spicy seafood boil and it was quite disappointing. It was not spicy at all. The crabs barely had any meat in it. One of the crabs even smelled rotten. The shrimps and scallops were subpar. I mostly ate the potatoes and carrots just to fill myself up. I did enjoy the sauce but sauce is not worth 1800 pesos. You're probably better off ordering other a la carte items...
