Honest Review of Manam Robinsons Antipolo: Great Food, But A Lot to Work On
Visited Manam Restaurant in Robinsons Antipolo, and while I had high expectations given their reputation, the experience was, unfortunately, mixed.
Let me start with the positives: Most meals were genuinely delicious. The flavors were well-developed, and you could tell that the recipes were thoughtfully curated. But beyond the food, the rest of the experience left much to be desired.
First, the place is clearly undermanned. It’s a big restaurant with high seating capacity, but very few staff were around to attend to diners. You really need to call their attention multiple times before someone comes to assist. It’s frustrating when your dining time is mostly spent trying to flag someone down.
Second, the noise level was challenging. The restaurant has an open layout with no proper enclosure, so it gets very noisy, especially during peak hours. If you’re someone who values mindful eating or relaxed conversations, this setup makes that nearly impossible.
Now, the most disappointing part of the experience: sanitation. I found two long strands of hair in the Pako salad I ordered. I immediately called the attention of Marlyn, one of their supervisors. While she did have the salad replaced, it took way too long. By the time the new salad arrived, I was already done with the rest of my meal — defeating the purpose of a starter.
Worse, the replacement was of lower quality — mostly wilted leaves. Marlyn explained it was the last batch, which made me wonder: if it’s not fresh and not up to standard, why serve it at all? It would have been more respectful to just cancel the order than risk sending out something subpar. To top it off, I was still charged for the salad, with no gesture of compensation whatsoever. Not even a small apology or discount, despite the sanitation issue and delay.
There are no vegetarian options except salads, and not flexible and willing to adjust and remove meats from their dishes because accdg to order takers, all foods are not from scratch and so sauces and other flavors are already mixed in prior to cooking.
Lastly, the pricing does not match the portion size. Their menu offers Small, Medium, and Large sizes — but take those literally. The servings are modest, almost like they’re made for baby appetites. If you’re dining with a group, definitely manage expectations or you’ll end up ordering more than planned just to feel satisfied.
Would I recommend it? Only if you’re going for the food and you’re extremely patient. But if you’re looking for good service, clean and calm ambiance, and value for money — Manam Robinsons Antipolo might not be the best choice right now. They have potential, but they seriously need to tighten up their operations and...
Read moreTried dining here for the first time with my family to sample their watermelon sinigang. They definitely offer a wide variety of local delights with a twist, for some of the dishes, the wide variety of flavors will throw you off the first time you try them since the taste is different from the usual. Which exactly happened to me and I was overwhelmed.
The watermelon sinigang was a bit sweet, when I think should have a great balance of sweet, salty and sour tastes. There was nothing special with the Crispy Pork Kawali ang Garlic Bangus Belly. For now, I would recommend House Crispy Sisig, Gising Gising (though not I thinks it’s not spicy enough) and Sizzling Crispy Sinigang (this is without soup btw but with a slightly sour sinigang gravy).
There was one server who appeared to be impatient when we were trying to request for senior citizen discount but overall, service was great, with a surprisingly fast serving of food. Only downside will be the wait period on when to be seated since for a big group, majority should be present before they can reserve a table for you (for a group of 12, 9 should be present). Will I come back? Yes, since I still want to try their other dishes as this restaurant definitely piqued...
Read moreWe dined at Manam Robinsons Antipolo tonight. Order taking took so long because we were calling the attention of FOH staff and no one was attending to us. I even have to raise my voice just so that we can be noticed. Mind you it is not yet dinner rush and only 2 tables were occupied at the time. Then the dessert mais con hielo took so long to be served. We waited more or less 30 minutes for it to arrive and 3 follow ups.
When we billed out, I told the staff we have 2 senior for discount. The bill came for review and I confirmed then told them again that we have senior discount. We presented the picture of the senior IDs since the physical card was left in the car but the 2 senior ID holder was with us and they can verify the picture. But no, your staff said they will not honor the senior ID we presented. We dined with other restaurants and presenting the pictures of the senior ID has never been a problem. We only encountered the issue with Manam. Just lodging this complaint to you before we forward your non-acceptance of senior ID to the proper government...
