Saffron Cafe | Crimson Boracay — Restaurant in Malay

Review of Breakfast buffet. Food 4.5 stars. Service/Cleanliness 3 stars.

Best to start early at 7am so not too crowded. Villa guests are welcomed at Azure, however Saffron is a better choice if you want more variety. Pastries are delicious, Ube pandesal, ensaymada, Calamansi muffin (the best)! Coffee (Americano/Cappuccino) not as strong as the one served in Azure. Both mornings we were there, coffee order took a while to arrive.

If you sit next to entrance, Flys can be bothersome. Found a dead one, tucked in the middle of plant arrangement. If sitting under basket lights, they are quite dusty. One side of our table was covered in dust.

Early check-out at 7am and hotel provided a pack breakfast. Assuming it's from Saffron. Turkey Sandwich was outstanding! Was not expecting that!

If they called the “Batchoy” mami, I would have let it slip. Star anise, bokchoy and lechon kawali in the batchoy wierded me out and it was disappointing. The chicken inasal also tasted like it was marinated bbq chicken. Can’t taste tanglad or ginger or garlic. The only thing authentic with it was the soy sauce and calamasi dipping sauce. Lechon kawali and rice was too dry and it looked like it wasn’t even fresh cooked as the skin was hard. Can’t make it work without slathering with mang tomas fake lechon sauce.

We stayed at Crimson Mar6 to 9 and had the pleasure of eating at Saffron cafe for lunch and mostly buffet breakfast. Ala carte lunch is good, a bit pricey but good portion, burger is quite huge and clib sandwich taste great. Breakfast is awesome with a good variety of asian and american selections. Love the noodles section every breakfast. But what makes it outstanding is the service they provide. We love our server MG (MJ?) who was with us almost every morning.
