As a born and raised Californian from Los Angeles where we regard tacos and burritos and Mexican food in our state unrivaled along with Texas and turn our nose up to others and hold a high standard.
It is very very hard to find good Mexican food or tacos that take you back especially the further you get from Los Angeles.
I try Mexican restaurants just to see how good they bring the taste from the USA to other countries. I can't tell you how many times I've been let down.
But this place! I walked in expecting the same. Not to expect anything good or bad just to keep an open mind as a local recommend it to me.
1st check in the box. Free salsa to eat well you wait for your order. off to a good start. Not only that but it was good 7/10 with 5 being the average.
2nd check in the box. As the tortillas came out I already could tell by looking at them they are handmade. As they are not normal size of what you would normally see and they have that nice grainy flour texture on them when you grab it. They actually toast the tortilla instead of serving it soft another huge plus. 10/10.
3rd check in the box. All the ingredients seemed fresh with no browning on the pico de Gallo or onions tomato etc. They loaded it on there so you get a perfect crunch. The tacos were not soggy either or falling apart on you as you lifted them. Served with a piece of lemon to spray on it for more flavor or dump the salsa on the taco. Also the hot sauce he makes fire in a spicy way, and this food is fire! Slang for (very good tasting) 9/10.
They only had the chicken, fish and pork tacos available. I don't even like fish...but I liked that fish taco.
I also got the quesadilla my only complaint is a personal preference as I don't like olives so I picked them out but the sauce that came with it and the salsa bomb 🤤 tasting. 7/10.
So in conclusion to this review I walked away from the restaurant saying to myself wow that hit the spot and satisfied that taste.
I was their first customer that day. To wrap this up would I eat there again?
Not only would I go back I actually did for dinner! and snagged some tacos to go.
Where I got to chat and meet the owner and tell him how shocked I was to find such good tacos in the middle of no where.
Highly recommend this place if you are feening...
Read moreWe arrived at 20:20 and placed an order for 4 different tacos. We were the only guests in the restaurant that had ordered food. Drinks arrived and we enjoyed those. After some 5 minutes, another table next to us arrive. They order. 10 minutes later, food appear from the kitchen and we thought it was for us.
But no, it was for the other guests that had just ordered. 5 minutes of more waiting, the waiter appears from the kitchen (mind you, 20 minutes after we ordered) to tell us that they did not have anymore food except for one of the tacos we ordered. This was despite the table that arrived after us, was served some of the tacos we had ordered (beef), which they had now run out of. Instead of eating the one taco they had left, we opted to find another restaurant, where they had food. We then paid full price for our drinks and was suggested that ‘maybe tomorrow’ would be better.
I am surprised by the good reviews here. We went to Dos Locos and were served within 5 minutes (eating my tacos, which they actually had,...
Read moreA place to not be missed while in Bohol. The tacos are delicious and the owner, Andres, is very attentive to everyone’s needs, willing to adjust the recipes accordingly. Even though the vegetarian tacos are not part of the standard menu (yet), he tried to adapt the recipe, which I appreciated a lot, so don’t skip on this place cause you will most likely get a really good taco. They also offer a bunch of cocktails (and again willigness to do some non-alcoholic ones based on your needs). 10/10 for flexibility. The narcos theme is pretty cool too and the owner has already some great ideas in mind on how to develop the place further, based on that, so we look forward to checking out their place when they open a bigger one in Alona 😁 Food-wise, it would easily beat many other restaurants, also given the owner’s years of expertise with mexican cuisine. Do not miss - genuinely a great place which will make you...
