Dining at Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory Cafe, we noticed that there was no service charge. Having a service charge or not, I hope their servers relay information correctly.
You see... I traveled all the way from Quezon City to Ayala Malls Manila Bay because I wanted omurice for dinner. But when the server was taking our order, she said that all the omurice meals weren't available anymore. Lloyd and I were both surprised, of course, because how could they run out of eggs so early.
I informed the server that I came all the way from Quezon City to eat omurice and to double-check with the kitchen staff. She was firm with her answer and she suggested that we order something else. She told us that if ever we want to dine again at Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory, we can go to their Estancia branch which is opening soon.
We would have let it go. However, after eating our dessert, we saw other diners enjoying omurice. Of course, we called for the server who told us that omurice isn't available anymore. She simply said that it wasn't available during the time we ordered. Gosh! Of course, I was furious. She could have told us from the start that serving time is long instead of outright saying that it isn't available anymore.
Honesty is truly appreciated since we will surely patiently wait for the omurice. Anyway, what is done is done. I hope the next time we dine at Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory Cafe their servers will be honest so as to not ruin an otherwise wonderful evening. Hoping they improve...
Read moreThis is my first time dining here with my friends. We had lunch the hamburg omurice, chicken cheese omurice, and hayashi beef omurice (no pic). While the serving and portion size was generous, the the dishes could use improvements. My friends and I shared a piece of our dish so we could all try it and here are my thoughts on what we ordered.
The omelette tasted fine for all dishes. Both the hamburger patty and hayashi beef had this unusual taste that I personally didn't like. Not sure if it's from the sauce used for both beef dishes but it made the eating experience less enjoyable after each bite. Initially though, it tasted fine. I think the sauce just needs less acidity and the meat a bit more seasoning for both dishes. On the other hand, the chicken cheese omurice tasted fine but the chicken and sauce felt a bit dry, in a sense that the sauce was too thick. It could also use a bit more cheese.
My friends ordered iced tea with their meal and they let me take a sip. While my friend wasn't a fan, it was alright for me. For dessert, I ordered a mini basque burnt cheesecake. It's just right in terms of taste and texture although it is quite dense so I wouldn't recommend you order this if you're quite full.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, I really liked the vibe and interior and staff were...
Read moreFood was served within a reasonable amount of time. I ordered Hayashi Beef Omurice. It is cooked well but I find it a bit too sweet to my liking, maybe due to the amount of tomatoes used, which doesn't seem to be evident from the color of the sauce.
I was supposed to order their famous ice cream, but I was disappointed that they had no more stock of it. It seems they import it from Japan or somewhere. I instead ordered a Rare Cheese Cream Puff which was really good. Not too sweet and the pastry is cooked to my liking.
Service is pretty good, they have staff actively on their posts and greets you with a smile. Not quite sure how well they work on a busy time since I visited on non-peak hours.
As for the price of the menu items, worth it to try but I don't see myself eating here regularly. For their pastries I can probably say they are justifiable, but the meals, maybe not so much. You will find better value elsewhere.
The cafe itself is nice and spacious. Tables have comfortable distance from the others.
Overall experience was good one - enough to be a...
