Some of the best Indian Food I've tried in Metro Manila. So good, in fact, I ordered for 3 days straight.
Food: [4.25/5]
•Butter Chicken (4.75 stars) - Php 325 (side included) Hands down the best butter chicken I've had in the Philippines, save for the one I make. It was a perfect balance of rich and creamy but also of acid and spice. It takes me back so close to how I personally make it, albeit a bit different with a small tingle of sweetness—which is a bit of a surprise for me. The only thing preventing me from giving it a full 5 stars is because the "gravy" is a little too watery for my liking, but it's is truly chefs kiss. Nothing a little cashews in the blender can't fix.
•Garlic Butter Naan (4.75 stars) - Php 100 Another thing I think is close to perfect, it's also a perfect balance of density and airyness. The garlic butter was also there and you won't feel to bad for the price considering the price either. The one thing preventing me from giving this one a perfect rating is the inconsistency between the batches. Sometimes it's perfectly toasted other times it's a little on the soft side. I think the kitchen should have a standard way of making it and adjust pieces only for specific requests. Then again, still gets chefs kiss from me.
•Beef Masala (4/5) - Php 325 It's food but a tad bit basic. The beef was perfectly tender and the "gravy" was also packed with flavour and was the right texture, but the spices and ingredients felt a bit lacking. It was all there but, somehow, something felt missing. It's smth I wouldn't be ashamed of recommending and open to having again, but it's also something that I don't really think is worth drooling over (Yes. That's how much I love their butter chicken).
•Beef Biryani (2/5) - Php 325 Not the best option. What really kills me about this is the lack of flavour in it. I don't understand how that was possible but whatever spices were there, they were gone. I like how it's near-authentic with the Ingredients but that doesn't make up for the lack of flavour. Also, I ordered it with moderate spice but it was close to blowing the top of my head off, something that likely contributed in drowning out all the flavour it had. Then again, they could always improve on it or maybe I just got a bad batch.
•Basmati Rice with Butter (4/5) - (comes as a side with the curries and other mains) A little bland for my liking, tho expected considering it doesn't say it gets spiced. I understand it's supposed to let the curry shine but, in that case, I think the butter is a bit of a wasted resource. Nothing noteworthy here but it does its job.
•Lassi (5/5) - Php 80 Well, I haven't exactly had authentic Punjab Lassi but it sure as hell was up in my list of favourite summertime drinks ever.
Some things they get perfect or, at least, almost perfect; other things, perfectly negligible; while only one thing left me disappointed but bearable. Even then, I still stand by my statement of calling it the best Indian/Middle Eastern place in Metro Manila in terms of food because of those 3 great things I had (Butter Chicken, Garlic Butter Naan, and the Lassi), which, all else excluded, are enough reasons to want to eat their food.
Service & Hospitality: [3/5]
Can't really have much of an opinion but the staff seem to be nice enough and I haven't had much long of a wait time with my orders from them. Given that, I'll say they're all fine, but I have to give a neutral review for this until I actually try to eat there in-person.
Ambiance: [3/5]
Again, can't say much about the place itself because I had mine take out but the impressions give a simplistic feel which is fitting for the place, so, I'd say not bad still give them a neutral rating.
Overall: [4/5]
The place itself is nothing noteworthy and with everything about it just screaming mediocre...but don't let this mask fool you. I can confidently say that this place has among the best, if not the best, Indian food in Metro Manila. I look forward to having that Butter Chicken when...
Read moreI recently visited Abdul restaurant and had a fantastic experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making us feel welcome right from the moment we stepped in.
The food was absolutely delicious. I tried the beef kobideh, chicken tikka, roti and butter chicken. The beef kobideh was perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection. The chicken tikka had a wonderful blend of spices and was incredibly tender. And the butter chicken was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. Each dish was a delight to the taste buds.
I must say, the standout aspect of my visit was the exceptional service provided by the staff. They were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great dining experience.
Overall, I would highly recommend Abdul restaurant. With its delicious food, great staff, and cozy atmosphere, it's definitely worth a visit. I would rate my experience a solid 4.5 out of 5. Keep up the excellent...
Read moreThe food is great. However thats as far as good things go. Service is incredibly slow.
Went here and just ordered two dishes. The place wasnt packed so i would expect the staff isnt loaded up with orders. I asked for an ETA on the food, 10-15 mins. After 30mins, nothing still. So i had to change the dine-in order to take out. I was in a hurry and only had 30mins to spare. It took about 40mins
On top of the food, i ordered two sodas in can and service water. Had to follow up multiple times. Apparently it takes 10-15 mins to serve water/ in can sodas.
Honestly i dont think they’d do anything to change their service because at the end of the day, their food is good. People would be willing to put up with long waiting time.
Had to deal with long waiting times both the times i went there. I hope that im an isolated case and other people had ok...
