We ate here yesterday to compare what they have to offer versus Silantro and Gustaco. We arrived at around 1:15pm and the place was still somewhat packed.
The space is very intimate. It's apt for dates and such but would be a tight fit if groups of 5-7 would eat here.
The interior had specks of festive colors coming from the lights, center pieces, and chairs against the polished wooden tables and gray concrete walls.
We ordered just a few food items since we already had a bite to eat prior to coming to this restaurant;
Sisig Tacos - P290
It came with only 2pcs (which were not indicated in the menu). I believe their tortillas were made in-house seeing as it was a bit smaller compared to your traditional tortilla.
There was a respectable amount of sisig for the taco. The sisig itself was creamy, flavorful, and had a good balance of tender and crunchy textures. The additions of the pickled onions and cucumber were great. It made the dish not taste that greasy.
But at the price point given, I had hoped they would have given at least 3 pieces. You would have greater value for money ordering the 5/6 pcs of sisig tacos from Tipsy Pig
Birria Tacos - P310
It came with only 2pcs, same as the sisig taco but these were noticeably smaller and thin in terms of filling and tortilla size. it was partnered with a mild spicy red salsa topped with melted cheese. The filling was disappointingly dry. It didn't have the burst of flavors one would expect from eating a birria taco. The salsa on the side did little to improve the taste of this dish. At the price point, the serving size is a bit insulting.
Grilled corn - P250
Good char on the corn and the sauce it was coated with didn't overpower the natural sweetness of the corn. It was a decent appetizer. The flavor profile improves once you drizzle a bit of calamansi juice on it.
Espasol Horchata - P290
The burnt flavor was a bit too strong but it was tolerable. It's way overpriced tho for just a small bottle.
The main reasons for my rating of 2 stars are the following;
Customer service was inconsistent. We were served our appetizer before even being handed out our plates and cutlery. We were not given the 3 sauces that each other table had to supplement their dishes. When I asked about what a horchata is and what it was made of, the staff answered with "coconut milk, and fresh milk".
The price point vs serving size. The serving size of the tacos were shockingly small given the price point advertised. The taco dishes weren't labeled as appetizers on the menu so our expectation was that the serving size was at least somewhat similar to that of Silantro. Despite the flavors (expect for the birria) being delicious and on point, the whole dining experience was short-lived due to the serving size or lack thereof. I would have wished to enjoy the food more if only an extra pc of taco were given for every order.
I'd like to give this place another shot cause maybe the tacos were not their specialty. The burritos ordered by the tables beside us looked filling...
Read moreTucked in one of the busiest areas of Tomas Morato, Tadeo is such a gem. I never expected Filipino food to taste amazing Mexican-ized.
Location: Let's all agree that Tomas Morato is one of the biggest food destinations in QC area, so expect parking to be difficult. Tadeo's location makes it hard to park because of its humble spot. My advice is either have it as takeout/ delivery or walk going in.
Atmosphere/Interior: Tadeo is very small, with only a seating capacity of 10 pax max. Any more and the servers would have difficulty moving around. The place is top to bottom cement style with one accent wall. It can get hot inside due to the heat coming from the kitchen.
Service: Due to its humble size, there are at most three employees onsite. One who deals with the orders and takeouts, one who cooks, and another who helps around overall. From my observation, most of their customers order takeout or delivery. As a result, a lot of their attention goes to the takeout and delivery rather than the ones who dine-in.
Food: Now, the juicy part of course is the food. they offer three types of housemade condiments, though I'm not sure what they were: a green sauce, Mayo-based sauce, and Sriracha-based sauce. We ordered three dishes: the Sinigang Burrito (P299), the Inasal Burrito (P295) and the Beef Guisado Quesadilla (P290). All three dishes caught us by surprise! The Sinigang Burrito had that sourness and tangy flavor you get from a Sinigang soup, but it also had a crunchy pork that's sure to bring a new texture to the dish (the green sauce goes well with this). The Inasal Burrito was a personal favorite because of the smoky chicken and how it paired well with the rice. (The Mayo-based sauce goes well with this). The Beef Guisado Quesadilla has a very appealing crunchy tortilla, cheesy on the inside and very satisfying. Portion size is no issue at all because just one of these can fill you up real good, so I suggest sharing the food to get the chance to try out all their other dishes!
Overall, I highly recommend Tadeo when you want to spice up your usual Filipino food! Just don't bring groups to the place because it's really not that sort of place for hangouts. Until...
Read moregood food and service with spacious dining area. their prices are also at par with the food quality. the only reason i haven’t rated it a 5 is because i haven’t tried the whole list of offerings hahahah
for 2 pax, we had: • taco fiesta (comes with all the choices, 2 pcs ea of birria, shrimp, tenderloin steak, pork adobada, sisig, and tilapia fish rebosado) you can ask for bakareta sauce to pair with the birria. • off the menu: octopus taco and sinuglaw • espasol horchata • mango crepe enchiladas
loved the sinuglaw the most!! it comes in small but very satisfying bites with a bit of pork char and curing here. i like that they use tilapia in their taco fish too. the sauces they have on the side are also good and complements the food. you can ask for bakareta to pair with the birria too.
the espasol horchata is a unique item i saw, but it delivers as it’s named. it has that nostalgic espasol with a bit of grain that’s not unpleasant to drink.
the mango crepe enchiladas had a balance of textures and taste: crunch and sweetness from the sugar, bite from the crepe (it’s preference but i’d like for the crepe to be a bit more thinner) and mango (they use ripe mangoes that go well), and ice cream.
we got sinigang burritos for take out and...
