Jun 3 2024: changed rating from 5 star to 3 star. This was my family's go-to resto for late night snacks. However, food quality and service greatly declined.
I requested for straw because of a medical problem in my mouth. However the staff refused to provide me a straw saying that UCC is a strawless establishment. This already happened to me with another Starbucks branch (congressional) so I requested to transfer the drink to a takeout cup thinking that at least I will have a strawless lid, but surprisingly, the staff provided me with a straw for my takeout drink as well. The staff told me I should not drink this inside the store when the rest of my dine in order did not arrive yet. I think establishments use the strawless movement as an excuse to cut costs instead of helping the environment. They could have been more lenient towards those who have disabilities and have problems with their mouth/teeth.
Also, Rice Casserole Chicken Teriyaki uses fried chicken with cheese. Should have called it Karaage but ok. 🙃
Some of the aircons are not working as of our visit (or they just turned it off, idk) but an Iwata cooler...
Read moreUCC has been one of those long standing café chains in the Metro since the early 2000s.
I used to frequent here a lot as well as the other sister branches, and witnessed their menu change every few years to cater to the more health conscious crowd.
If you're visiting for a heavy meal. My top picks would be the Chicken Teriyaki Rice Casserole, Hamburg Cheese Japanese Curry, and their special Sumiyaki Coffee (also called Siphon). If you want to try something unique, look for the Kori Kohi coffee drink.
Other menu items such as their breakfast options and ice blended drinks are quite pricey for both quantity and quality, and the appetizers are just average so I cannot recommend them.
What's also nice about this place is that they open from 7am all the way until 12am, which is great for hanging out with friends, but better visit during the off hours because parking slots easily...

The space inside is substantial. The temperature is fine without a jacket unless the airconditioner is aimed at you.
As you get seated deeper into the establishment, cellphone and internet reception become abbysmal.
The staff, including the security guard, and the security guards of the adjacent establishments, are good and accommodating. It's just that at certain times, it would be noticeable that they are understaffed.
Food and coffee is generally ok. Most of the time it is as you would expect it to be. Sometimes, however, you get served ice cold carrots in your hot plate of beef brisket omurice.
And they will short charge you a few centavos when you pay in cash. Aweful in principle.
**Got a 10% discount, maybe because of the...
