Ka Tunying's Tagaytay — Restaurant in Tagaytay

Nothing really special for a restaurant, but their food is actually good.. Kind of pricey, but it is still worth it. They excel in the Filipino cuisine. They kind of have a Kuya J's vibe but with a rustic appearance.

• Ambience: 8/10 One of the places that has a semi overlooking view of the Taal. However, the interior is quite OK on a rustic contemporary feel. • Food: 8/10 For some reason, their food is generally seasoned well and not on the salty side. If you love Filipino food, you won't be dissapointed. • Toilet: 6/10 They have both male & female toilets. Cleanliness isn't maintained well but it can be tolerable. Male toilet: PROS.with lavatory & mirror, toilet and urinal. CONS.not PWD friendly, no hand held bidet and toilet paper.

Twice been here after a short market trip from mahogany, I feel I have been enchanted by this place. The homey ambiance albeit a bit far from the Taal view, is a charm! The food: 4/5, Didnt expect the food here to be that good but it was decent. Priced well, not bad for the portion too. The service: 5/5, genuinely nice and polite staff!

A must on your food trip list when you are in Tagaytay. Dont just take my word for it. 😊

Edit: forgive the pictures, I've started eating when I remembered to take the photos! Speaks of how enticing the food were!

Edit2: here again! I dont know if I am able to complete a Tagaytay trip without eating here!

Edit3: tried ukoy and tinapa rice on my 4th visit! Napa wow na lang ako, grabe ka na Ka Tunying's!

Edit4: been here nth time. They dont serve the waiting breads ala biscocho...

Update: I was contacted by a representative of Ka Tunying's Tagaytay and they were very apologetic, they didn't even try to justify what happened and took full responsibility of it. That was waaaay different from what we experienced that day, that is the Ka Tunying's that we know of and promised that they will deal with what happened. As from my original review, I knew that it was not the standard of Ka Tunying's, and I was right, because that representative that contacted me IS the standard. Thank you for listening to your customers, definitely will be back again to this branch when we have the chance.

To be truthful of this review, I won't be deleting my original review because it happened, BUT, comebacks happen as well and this review is a testament of it. So I'm keeping it below for posterity but I believe the representative that I talked to that this does not represent the Ka Tunying's brand.

As to why only 4 stars even with the pleasant interaction with the representative? Well something did happen, so it was not perfect, nonetheless I trust that they will improve their service as promised.

Hey who knows, maybe the next time we visit it'll be 5 stars 😉

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Overcooked Yung Sisig bangus, sobrang dried out na. Tapos yung mga staff hindi accommodating. Sobrang dami nila pero pag pasok namin ni wala man lang nag assist kami na pumunta sa seats. Lahat ng order namin kailangan i-follow up. Even Yung extra rice kailangan pa I follow up, rice Lang yun ha.

Tapos yung isang waiter sinasabi ko mag bi-billout na kami sabi sakin "wait lang ser" ni wala eye contact. He just waived me off. Seriously? 😂 The same guy na tinawag din ng Dad ko to ask for something, dere derecho Lang siya di namansin. 😂
