Dear Dean & DeLuca team, I’m disappointed to say the least. The branch looks beautiful, yes, but the positive part of our visit stops there.
We visited this branch and immediately felt profiled and discouraged. Even if it wasn’t full, we were ignored by the staff, and wasn’t greeted at all. We didn’t mind that part but upon asking a server for a table, we were asked to wait in a corner while they assisted newcomers. Once we stood in the corner, we were asked by a female server, who was not at all welcoming, to sit down. After sitting down for a brief 30 seconds, we were asked by the same female server to stand up and go to a different table because they want to serve a different group. Also, she had a rude demeanor when doing so.
When we insisted on staying put because we’ve been moved multiples times (like herding cattle), she made a sour face and walked away without even apologizing. We wanted to leave but we were already tired and thirsty. She pointed to her colleague and asked the male server to just attend to us instead of taking full accountability.
After ordering our beverages, we were at awe with how the Cortado looked but the Americano tasted sour.
We asked for assistance with a male server to get our bill and he just looked at me saying “What? Yes?” rudely. As if we did not deserve his time. When I nicely asked to check out, he got the bill, and I kid you not, served the bill like a frisbee disc onto our table and didn’t even bother saying anything else. I get that servers are busy but do you really have to be snobs?
I’ve been to other Dean & DeLuca branches but they are so much more pleasant and welcoming than this branch. Other branches would actually make you feel that they’re happy to see you. I get it you’re in an upscale area but other branches with an international name would have proper customer service training right? We don’t need you to roll the red carpet for us, but respect goes a long way.
And based on the previous reviews from the past it seems that you have done little to no improvements. A lot of other businesses are striving to capture and retain customers to keep afloat, and here you are just throwing potential loyal customers. I’m sorry that this is the experience in this branch. We will not be back.
I hope you take customer reviews to heart and improve by taking actionable & concrete next steps. The hard work of the brand will just go to waste with this kind of...
Read moreVery disappointed with the service. I went inside with my service dog, immediate reaction: “no, no.. no dogs allowed”… Very discriminatory, especially when I am with my service dog. They didn’t even offer an alternative seating option on the terrace. I was thirsty, so they were lucky enough that I was still keen on giving them business therefore insisted on going out on the terrace.
To start off they were very quick and efficient, gave the menu and hovered around outside until I chose a menu item. (Felt pressured) and once I chose a drink, the waiter said to me, since you’re outside, I’ll give you the drink in the takeout cup. I didn’t comment and just agreed but the best part was the fact that I stayed there for 1hr30min, they didn’t even offer me water or check up to see if everything was okay and needed anything else. I could have easily walked off and not pay the bill. I tried getting their attention for it, but did not work. They were only focused on the inside guests. Please do not have a terrace if you cannot entertain the guests indoors and outdoors simultaneously.
I had to call a family member to come all the way to BGC so they can walk inside to present my card and pay the bill , as their initial reaction when going inside from the start with my service dog was a BIG NO which led me to not feel comfortable to step foot again to ask and pay for the bill.
Never entertaining this business again…
PS. Not pet friendly establishment, even if they are trained and certified service dogs…Welcome to the Philippines, where I hear from a lot of people: “Come to the Philippines, the people and hospitality is the best” really makes...
Read moreOne day last week, my friend and I went to this restaurant. After entering, no staff came to greet us or seat us. We stood there for quite a while before an employee finally asked if we could sit at an empty table near the glass door. I refused because it was too hot, and sitting there was no different from being outside.
Then, I noticed there were available seats inside and walked in. To my surprise, the staff insisted that we sit at a high table that could accommodate around ten people. I saw a couple at a two-person table next to me just finishing their payment and about to leave, so I requested to sit at that table instead.
Suddenly, another employee—likely a supervisor—came over and once again insisted we sit at the uncomfortable high table. When I asked why we couldn't sit at the normal two-person table, they claimed, "It's already reserved." What kind of person would believe such a ridiculous lie? A table that someone just left was suddenly "reserved"? Why wouldn't you let us, who were already on-site, take that table? Why couldn't you reserve the table near the entrance for the so-called reserved guest instead?
I was so furious that I didn't even want to argue. I left the restaurant immediately, only to see the staff watching us leave as if nothing had happened and continuing their work as usual.
I am extremely disappointed with the service attitude of this restaurant! I genuinely hope that restaurants with this level of service will not survive in BGC. You should seriously consider shutting down...
