Tried BB.Q Chicken for dinner on a Sunday. There were three of us dining :)
We were 13th on the queue and were told that the wait may be for an hour. We just went ahead regardless since one, fried chicken is easily a comfort food and two, obviously, we wanted to try how this new fried chicken joint would live up to the hype. After less than 30mins, we already got the call that we already have a table.
We ordered the onion rings, kimchi rice, UFO, and bulgogi pasta. We loved the onion rings - hot and large and fried with a batter that becomes crunchy and with a hint of spice! The kimchi rice is okay. It had a sweet taste to it. Maybe that's really the fast food chain's recipe in Korea? The UFO's yum! Presentation most definitely is fun cause of the smoke. We love the cheese. Chicken batter was crunchy! Sauce and cheese flavoring on the chicken are good naman. Not new flavors naman (as I think other smaller local Korean fried chicken joints may be offering them), but there's also that hint of taste unique to them. The chicken meat's also juicy. Note though that the parts of the chicken used vary (some are drumstick, wings, parts of thigh). Dishes were brought out one by one. The last one that arrived was the UFO chicken. Perhaps this is something that may be improved on? The store just newly opened anyway. We were just also patient enough to not devour whatever dish that came out first. We really wanted the chicken! Also, the appetizer (onion rings) helped hehe.
Service was great, I would say. The service crew were friendly and attentive. Kudos to them, despite the jampacked place, they're not grumpy. We noticed that one of the cooks is Korean. The Korean owner was also there in the restaurant dining area managing.
Thus far, there have been mixed reviews about it, but this was our experience. We werent disappointed. I'm quite sure we'll dine there, once a while :)
Staff said A LOT more branches will be...
Read moreAfter a lot of hesitation because of the mixed reviews about this place, I gave in and decided to try this chain.
Food: The food here is decent. You can taste the quality difference compared to other korean restaurants. The problem I see is the pricing of the chicken, which is the star of the show.
The UFO chicken platter consists of 16 pcs of chicken with melted cheese in the middle.
•The in-bone chicken has more bone than meat ratio. •Some of the parts are from a chicken breast with a large bone in it. •After a while the melted cheese cools down and becomes stuck in the platter, and it will be difficult to wrap the fried chicken's with cheese.
I was expecting of the usual bone in chicken wings like Frankies and Buffalo Wings and Things. The price is not worth it IMO with a price tag of 1,575.00. I was expecting better quality. If you want to try the chicken here for the sake of its flavours its better to order their boneless version.
Nevertheless, the Ceasar Salad and Tteokbokki are good and decently priced as the servicesize is good for 2-3 already.
Service: I like how the staff here is very attentive and kind. There are no complaints when it comes to the service crew.
Atmoshphere: The inside of the restaurant is nice, and it's spacious well lit and cold. In there al fresco dining, there are tables set outside near a balcony, the problem is there is a big LED wall panel facing infront of the store that might be annoying when dining in at night.
In conclusion, this is a restaurant you would visit once and be satisfied with it, given that this chain has already have a lot of branches and it's not relatively new anymore I hope they improve on how to optimize their serving time and maybe review the pricing of their chicken and/or be re-evaluate on their supplier of chicken, as the chicken parts they currently serve...
Read moreWalking into bb.q chicken with Gela and Ron, we were greeted by a festive atmosphere. Natural light, K-Pop blasting from speakers, and even TVs showing mukbang videos and dramas – it felt like stepping into a slice of Korean culture.
We ordered the following dishes
Bone-in Secret Chicken - Half, 8 pcs. (₱580) Initially, the heavily sauced chicken had a tempting flavor reminiscent of hot honey, but over time, the intensity became a bit overpowering. Despite this, the chicken showcased a satisfying contrast between its crunchy exterior and juicy interior. Notably, we observed that some pieces were on the smaller side and slightly more breaded than others.
Rosé Seafood Pasta (₱445) The noodles and sauce melded seamlessly, ensuring an even distribution of flavors that coated each strand of pasta. The dish boasted an array of fresh seafood, including shrimp, mussels, and squid.
Bulgogi Bibimbap (₱365) We found it to be decent, serving as a good accompaniment to the main dishes. However, the spice level here was noticeably higher compared to the pasta and chicken.
Iced tea - Refillable (₱170) Ron found it to be acceptable but mentioned it lacked a bit of flavor.
In summary, bb.q chicken left us satisfied and full with their flavorful offerings. While the loud speakers and TV broadcasts featuring ads, mukbang videos, and kdramas were a bit distracting, I chalked it up to cultural vibes. Despite this, I look forward to exploring more dishes on their menu, particularly the boneless platter, which seems like a great choice for holiday parties.
PS. Additionally, the self-serviced Hello Photobooth, available for ₱200, adds a fun element to the dining experience, especially when sharing the moment...
