One of the best, if not the best, fried chicken I've had in years! Sunday afternoon was a slow day. I had been sitting in front of my laptop all week, slaving away at work. I thought I needed some fresh air and a little bit of stretching (walking). I dragged myself to BGC, walked a mile, and was hungry by 5pm. I decided to take an early dinner at Khao Khai to avoid the crowd. I visited their branch at the Crossroads.
The signature fried chicken was amazing. I had the 2-piece order with an additional order of stir-fried green beans, and I ascended to fried chicken heaven. Can you imagine 2 pieces of fried chicken for 230 PHP++? That's almost the same price you get with fast food, minus the sticky tables, the crowd, and the greasy utensils. The rice serving was adequate, and the sauces that came with it were all good as well. They may be a bit salty for some, but you can just skip them if you don't feel like having them. The chicken was good on its own. It was so crispy that I could even eat the small bones.
Note that they don't serve Pad Thai, which is a great thing in my opinion. This means you can try other Thai food specialties that are outside of most people's comfort zone. The service was faultless! I highly recommend...
Read moreMe and my friends went to eat there at 12 midnight. We thought that they will be open for a while, because it is located in a building that says its open 24 hours. While we are in the middle of eating our meal, a crew already sent us the bill because apparently their cashier is going to close. We were like "Alright, let's just pay now then we'll just continue eating after." but then while we are in the middle of processing our cashless transaction, a crew is already trying to take our plates, I immediately said, "Oh- we are not done eating yet po!" then the crew looked very annoyed. First of all, they did not even told us that they will be closed in less than an hour when they gave us the menu. Then they just immediately try to take our plates while they are rushing us to pay mid-meal. Very disappointing experience, highly unethical and even ruined our night because we were planning to drink cocktails there after eating our meal. They could've just told us that they were closing soon when we came in instead of taking our...

The chicken itself was really good; crunchy skin, juicy meat, topped with fried shallots and garlic, and the sauces were good. The huge fail was the sticky rice which was way overcooked and mushy. Similar texture to Tita Paring's Suman Latik; a bit more water and it would've been congee.
Kor Moo Yang a la carte: Kor Moo Yang is traditionally grilled pork collar, but the menu states that it is "pork belly". What we received seemed like neither. Definitely not pork belly, and if it was pork collar, it was a super lean cut. If I had to guess, it just tasted like sliced lean pork loin. It came a bit lukewarm, which added to the disappointment.
If I were to return, I'd order the fried chicken with regular rice. Skip the "kor moo yang" and...
