I don't know what it is with this branch be they seem so frugal, it's the first thought that would come to mind. We were a party of five at a six-seater table and they only gave us ONE menu to share between all five of us. After we had placed our order it took at least 30 minutes for our food to get served. They served our crispy pata and fried chicken, cutting it up before serving. The chicken they didn't cut all the way so you'd still have to manually separate and pry them apart when you need to get a serving for yourself. They served one small bowl (estimate 3 tbsp) of sauce for the crispy pata that was meant to be good for 4-5 people. The bulalo soup that is supposed to be good for sharing was small, and they didn't even serve bowls for it! The rice platter that came with the set meal was only 3 cups, definitely not enough to feed 4-5, we had to order two extra platters for the 5 of us. They also gave us one serving spoon for rice across all three rice platters, we had to keep passing the rice spoon across the table. The vegetables in the chopsuey and sotanghon was good, very green, very fresh. They gave us one pitcher of water and one of iced tea, both filled to the brim with ice--both pitchers had no spouts so imagine the spillage. When we ran out of water, it was a challenge to ask for more because when I called a water, the waiter would acknowledge me then point me to another waiter. They also gave us just exactly five pieces of tissue, of course we had to ask for more because that wasn't enough to wipe of the spills from the iced tea and water. Finally we asked for dessert (leche flan) and although each flan was a different thickness and coloring (two-toned , it didn't caramelize evenly) the taste of the leche flan itself was soft, creamy, heavenly. They served all four leche flans in one plate. Our plates already had soup and soy sauce traces on them, but they didn't give us separate saucers or extra spoons so we can enjoy our dessert. We had to use our tissues to wipe the soup off of our plates so we can move the leche flan to it. On top of all this, none of the staff were observant enough to proactively maybe hand us an extra spoon, bowl, or plate. I honestly wouldn't come here again. Crispy pata and chicken are decent sizes for the price point but the chicken is way too salty. The sauce for the crispy pata is good but on the sweet side. Veggie dishes like sotanghon and chopsuey were good. They also gave really tiny portions of kangkong, chicharap, ensalada, and atsara. The meat in the bulalo is one big piece, not cut or divided at all for a dish that is meant for sharing. Hope this helps future groups planning on...
Read moreNot very impressed with the service. Before we sat down, I asked the waiter if all the Salo-Salo set meals were available, and he said yes. That’s why we decided to eat there.
After we sat down, it took 30 minutes just to get our order(it is not even a peak hours). Meanwhile, I noticed a family at another table who decided to leave because the waiter told them the group meals weren’t available. Out of curiosity, I asked the waiter again, and that’s when I found out that one of the group meals I had ordered wasn’t available.
Another 10 to 15 minutes passed before the waitress finally came back, only to tell me that the other group meal I had ordered was also unavailable. At that point, I just decided to order something else. One of the additional items had a discount—grilled mussels—if ordered with a group meal. But when I got the bill, the discount hadn’t been applied.
When I asked about it, the lady at the counter said, “Because the group meal you first ordered was already punched in before you ordered the grilled mussels.” That didn’t make sense—it was all on the same receipt, so why wasn’t the discount applied? She kept insisting it was a “late order,” but the only reason I ordered it later was because they took so long to inform me that my original order wasn’t available.
To top it off, they didn’t even serve the dessert that was supposed to come with the meal. I only realised when I asked for the remaining food to be packed for takeaway. And when they finally served our food, it wasn’t even...
Read moreFirst time eating in Kuya J and it's the worst experience we had. Firstly we went there and they told us that there was no table available, we gave them my mother's name and while waiting we took a stroll. We came back and they told us that they already said our name and they gave our table to someone else and asked us to wait for another table. While waiting for our table we told them to get our order. The first thing we said was the solo sinigang meal. They even confirmed that our order was 3 solo meals and an additional pinakbet. After getting the other orders the sinigang wasn't served yet. We asked the waiter and they said that there was no sinigang order. We even said that the sinigang was first order and the server confirmed it. In the end we just shared the other solo meal (I was already hungry and my family was already finishing up). They didn't even say sorry. As for the food. The bulalo was super salty and does not even have bone marrow. We asked if the mango shake was ripe mangoes they said yes. It was not. The lechong kawali's serving is just 4 pieces of thin and small and dry pork with a lot of fried breaded vegetables. Lastly the discount was super confusing, it was like they were only discounting what the senior citizen ate. They half all the orders and discount the cheaper half it. It was 20% of half the total cost. Overall the...
