The French Baker — Restaurant in Taytay

For the love of God! I beg of you! If you HATE waiting, steer clear of this place! I came here to have an afternoon snack around 3:30pm. I ordered a brewed coffee and a banana crepe. Simple enough, right? WRONG! Coffee comes out 10mins later...ok, no big deal. I was expecting the crepe to come out a few mins after. 20mins later I am still craning my neck to see if there was an emergency or something because it would take something drastic like that for my order to take as long as it did. I flag down a waiter to follow it up. It comes out after another 10mins. I didn't mind because I was trying to kill a bit of time. I finish everything after 15mins and ask for the bill. 10-15mins and nothing. I follow it up. Another 10-15mins later still nothing. By this time I am already fuming. I flag down what appears to be a manager and ask for my bill. He comes back after 5mins with the bill apologizing that there waas a mixup with the bills. Apparently, the other table paid for my order. He comes in with a new bill and all it had was the order for the crepe. I told him I also ordered a coffee. French Baker had been around for quite some time but I have always avoided it because of my low-carb lifestyle. They are a bakeshop resto that serves mostly pasta dishes and rice meals. But now that I'm starting to include some carbs into my diet, I decided to give them a try and I was surprised. French Baker is not bad at all.

I had the Seafood Pasta, chose linguine instead of spaghetti. Serving size was enough and came with a very nice crispy slice of Garlicky French Bread. The linguine was slightly overdone and the pasta sauce a little too sweet but overall, I enjoyed my meal and even had the rest of it packed in a doggy bag for me to eat later.

My husband had the Burger Steak which came with mashed potatoes, rice and buttered vegetables. He says it was good.

I also ordered a brewed coffee which was EXCELLENT. It had a name but I forgot what it was.

We ended our meal with a slice of Carrot Cake that I enjoyed.

Review of French Baker in SM Taytay

French Baker is one of our go to places when we're tired of the usual fastfood stuff. It's a bit pricey but satisfying nevertheless. It was just a pity that the salad, appetizer, and soup were not available during our visit.

I did enjoy my chicken parmagiana since the serving was perfect for hungry me and the chicken was cooked and seasoned well. For the pasta, i would prefer it to be a little more al dente but no big deal. The strawberry shortcake was also super soft, light, and delish while the chocolate moist cake was quite dense. Not a fan though.

Hubby had the hickory Bbq ribs while my son got the chicken galentina but they didn't comment on the taste.

Our food did not arrive at the same time. Maybe because the kitchen is small and they can't cook our orders simultaneously. The wait staff was okay but could be a bit...
