First of all, I must say the food and coffee is very tasty indeed! I really hesitated in giving 4 or 5 stars but I decided to go for the 4 on just one point only: the portions are far too big.
Both my partner and I ordered a breakfast and on arrival we both agreed we would have been more than satisfied with just one of them between us (and I have a healthy appetite!). I think in part because of the very deep sided plates (more plate sized bowls, tbh), they have a temptation to fill it with food. However, both ourselves and the tables around us all left a lot of (very good) food on the plate, ultimately to be thrown away. That's wasted money for the customer and/or wasted profit for the café.
I have to repeat: the quality of food is very good: there's just way too much of it. I had a bus and flight to catch and so taking food away wasn't that practical, but my partner had a few hours before her train so took most of her breakfast bagel with salmon and a fried egg back to the hotel.
My strong advice to the café is to reconsider the sizing. If "big plates" is your thing, maybe offer your breakfasts in small and large portions? I had the Kofeina special at 43PLN, so maybe a small version at 35PLN (with one poached egg, less bread and other tasty bits)? I'm not local, so I can't comment if the pricing is good or not.
For a lunch, if the portion sizes are the same as our breakfast, that's probably ok.
The place was very tidy and had a great selection of bread and pastries on display for purchase too. It's close to the train and bus station, so very convenient for that.
I definitely recommend the place, just note the portion sizes and order accordingly! I hope the café don't take offence by my comments:...
Read moreDisappointed. The place was empty, barista was sitting talking and I didn’t have a clue if I had to go order or anybody would come to me. After almost 10 minutes, the chef came but although there was a separate menu in English, he didn’t speak any. I pointed to a goat cheese/spinach omelet and a cappuccino. After 10 minutes, he came with a salmon/Gorgonzola omelet. I really didn’t want to eat meat/fish, but didn’t want to give it back as he wouldn’t understand anyway. It would have been a big problem if I was vegetarian. I really recommend you to create a menu with both languages together, this way you can actually understand what foreigners order :/ Front seats (I guess there were more inside) were too close to open kitchen, not too comfortable cause of noise and smell. On the bright side, the omelet was very tasty and had a lot of salmon, and coffee was good. Very good price...
Read moreFood was great, service terrible. Waiting almost 2 hours for the meal to be served. People around coming much later than us was served almost in an instant. Though asked several times, the waitress seemed to forget about our order, and whats worse did not seem to care much. Settling the bill I asked the lady at counter (nicely) if she can make a compensation for the bad experience we had. In the exchange we were told „I’ve got 2 kids to raise and have to earn the living” which seemed very unappropriate in the situation - in the end its a shame that she did not stand forward to let us go at least a bit satisfied. When crowded those things may happen but the lack of willingness to settle things right simply gives a bad credit to the place and the...
