Old Brewery — Restaurant in Kielce

We visited this restaurant twice — and while the first visit was very enjoyable, the second one, unfortunately, left us with mixed feelings.

On the first evening, we tried the żurek, blood sausage, steak, chef’s schnitzel (schabowy), and pretzel. Everything was delicious, especially the żurek with its rich, hearty flavor and the blood sausage, which was tender and perfectly seasoned. The service was prompt, the food was well-presented, and the atmosphere made us feel welcome — we left satisfied and decided to return the next day.

On the second visit, we came with a larger group, and that’s when organizational issues started to show. – Our order was mixed up, and the dishes were brought out in the wrong order. – I specifically asked for the pretzel to be served with the tartare, but it was brought separately, with no coordination or presentation. – They completely forgot about my soup, and I had to remind the staff — the żurek was eventually brought, but it was not as good as the day before, with noticeably less sausage and a less rich flavor overall. – After the soup, I received my tartare, which was disappointing — bland and lacking flavor, as if it was missing key ingredients. – While I was still eating the tartare, they brought out my steak, which I had to ask them to take back, since I hadn’t finished the previous course — a clear issue with timing and communication.

Other guests also had varied experiences: – The blood sausage was again very tasty, and they even served a larger portion than the night before. – The chef’s schnitzel (schabowy) looked impressive in size, but the meat was so thin that it ended up dry and overcooked.

Overall, the restaurant left us with a sense of inconsistency. One day everything was well-prepared and organized, and the next — confused service, forgotten items, and uneven food quality. The staff and kitchen clearly lack consistency and coordination.

It might still be worth visiting, but don’t expect the same...

Essen top, Service flop – ein Brauhaus mit Selbstschutzfunktion gegen Gäste

Ein Besuch im Stary Browar in Kielce kann vieles sein – kulinarisch erfreulich, atmosphärisch solide… solange man es schafft, überhaupt etwas zu bestellen.

Nach 35 Minuten Wartezeit, in der wir scheinbar erfolgreich vom Personal ignoriert wurden, haben wir schließlich selbst die Initiative ergriffen. Erst durch eine gezielte Ansprache konnten wir dem freundlichen Service-Team aus drei Damen und einem Herrn entlocken, dass wir gerne etwas bestellen würden – eine überraschende Wendung offenbar auch für sie.

Die Körpersprache und die Blicke des Personals schienen dabei klar zu sagen: „Wie schön war es doch, bevor ihr gekommen seid.“ – eine Art stilles Manifest für gastronomischen Eskapismus. Wer hier bedient, tut das mit einer faszinierenden Mischung aus Gleichgültigkeit und leiser Verachtung. Fast schon Kunst.

Und doch – wenn man es einmal geschafft hat, durch die Serviceverteidigungslinie hindurchzubrechen, wird man mit sehr gutem Essen und ausgezeichnetem Bier belohnt. Die Küche versteht ihr Handwerk, das Bier ist frisch und geschmackvoll – hier arbeiten eindeutig Profis. Nur eben nicht im Gastraum.

Fazit: Wer Geduld mitbringt, starke Nerven hat und es sportlich nimmt, wird für sein Durchhaltevermögen durchaus belohnt. Für Fans des gepflegten Wartens und subtiler Ignoranz eine klare Empfehlung mit Sternchen. Alle anderen: vielleicht doch lieber selbst zapfen.

Jedzenie świetne, obsługa do poprawki – browar z funkcją samoobrony przed gośćmi

Wizyta w Starym Browarze w Kielcach może być naprawdę przyjemna – kulinarnie bardzo udana, atmosferycznie całkiem solidna… o ile uda się w ogóle coś zamówić.

Po 35 minutach oczekiwania, podczas których personel z powodzeniem nas ignorował, postanowiłem wziąć sprawy w swoje ręce. Dopiero po bezpośrednim zagadaniu udało się skłonić miły zespół trzech pań i jednego pana do przyjęcia zamówienia – co najwyraźniej było zaskoczeniem także dla nich.

Mowa ciała i spojrzenia obsługi mówiły wyraźnie: „Jak pięknie było, zanim przyszliście.” – ciche przesłanie gościnnej ucieczki. Obsługa tutaj działa z fascynującym połączeniem obojętności i lekkiej pogardy. To niemal sztuka współczesna.

A jednak – jeśli już uda się przebić przez tę niewidzialną barierę serwisu, czeka na gości nagroda: bardzo smaczne jedzenie i wyśmienite piwo. Kuchnia zdecydowanie zna się na rzeczy, piwo świeże i aromatyczne – tu pracują profesjonaliści. Tylko niekoniecznie na sali.

Podsumowując: kto ma cierpliwość, mocne nerwy i potraktuje to z przymrużeniem oka, zostanie należycie wynagrodzony. Dla fanów czekania i subtelnej ignorancji – pozycja obowiązkowa. Dla reszty – może jednak lepiej samemu...

Disaster food and service with the attitude

Unfortunately the evening that everyone was so much looking forward to came as total disaster!!!! Started with barman Jacek attitude towards us and others weitres and finishing with shef Paulina who was clueless how to prepare and fine cut meat for beef tatar!!!!! Food was returned and after 40 minutes came in exacly the same form and shape total absurd !!!!. Absolute total disaster!!!! The only person that saved the evening was waitress Iza Olszewska who was amazing, kind, polite and wonderful towards us, Iza the person with managerial maners who knew how to treat unhappy customers.
