Restauracja Opole | Pub | Maska — Restaurant in Opole

We were staying in Opole with my sister and her small dog, and we were truly impressed by the level of service in every restaurant we visited. What stood out most was how welcoming each place was towards the dog — we were always allowed inside without any issues, and staff would immediately offer water for the dog. It made for a very pleasant experience.

Unfortunately, our visit to Maska Pub and Restaurant was a disappointing exception. Upon arrival, a lady politely informed us that having a dog was not a problem and said she would find us a spot. However, she disappeared, and another waiter approached us in a rather rude manner, stating that if we had a dog, we had to go to the "pub part" of the establishment rather than the main restaurant area.

This “pub part” turned out to be an unpleasant, smoky space with a gloomy atmosphere — not suitable for non-smokers, especially since we also had a child with us. Despite explaining that none of us smoke and that we had a child present, the waiter remained inflexible.

We decided to leave and ended up going to Starówka, where we were met with warm hospitality, a delicious traditional Polish meal, and truly excellent service.

Opole has some wonderful places to eat, but sadly, Maska was not...

Halyna, the manager, is a rude lady. She responded when I asked her to speak English, "We are in Poland, so we shall speak Polish." The restaurant is located right on the main square, but given the rudeness of the manager, the indifference of some of the waiters, the poor quality of the food (read other reviews with one star), and the unwillingness of the owners to make changes (read what they say in response to the negative reviews), I sincerely recommend walking 50 meters to Spitalna street, where you will find excellent restaurants and pubs with superior food, welcoming staff, and...

We sat here for about 10 minutes until we were asked if we already had a menu / drinks menu.

Of course, we had no menu, the waitress came after another 10 minutes and brought us the menu and drinks menu, then suddenly after what felt like 30 seconds the waitress came and asked if we already knew what we would like, what was too slow before was too fast this time, then of course we said no, we need a moment.

After waiting another 10 minutes, the service was not there again and we decided to continue.
