I am writing to share some feedback regarding a disappointing experience my partner and I had while dining at your restaurant on the evening of May 16th at 8:30 p.m., a night we had chosen to celebrate our second anniversary.
From the outset, our experience fell short of expectations. Upon being seated, we were attended to by a waiter named Tomasz, who initially came across as professional. However, his approach quickly became intrusive. Rather than allowing us a moment to settle in and peruse the menu at our own pace, he continued to elaborate on the restaurant’s concept and offerings at length, which felt excessive and somewhat overbearing.
More concerning, however, was his persistent effort to steer us toward the most expensive items on the menu, despite my clear communication that I had eaten a late lunch and would be ordering lightly. With over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry – currently at the Savoy Hotel in London – I am confident in my ability to make informed choices regarding both portion size and price point, and I found his approach quite inappropriate.
Despite my comments, Tomasz proceeded to place a 1kg Porterhouse steak order for my partner without confirming the weight with us, and further suggested we add the Zaberca Iberico, implying the steak would not suffice. Regrettably, my partner acquiesced, and we ended up with far more food than we wanted or needed, leaving us with a sense that we had been upsold rather than genuinely cared for as guests.
A truly excellent server enhances the dining experience by intuitively understanding and responding to the guests’ preferences, not by pressuring them into costly choices. This experience left us feeling more like targets of a sales tactic than valued patrons, which was particularly disheartening on what should have been a special evening for us.
Regrettably, we left feeling disappointed and taken advantage of — sentiments no guest should carry away from a restaurant of your calibre. I hope this feedback is taken in the spirit intended: as an opportunity for reflection and...
Read moreI didn't have big expectations for this place but it was very good. First of all the location is wonderful. The restaurant is located in the Praga suburb of Warsaw in the territory of an old vodka factory. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. We came here for dinner four people. Two adults and two teenagers. Started with gordal olives with pesto sauce; boiled baby potatoes with salmon caviar; grilled Padron peppers; fermented sardines, and anchovies. Everything came with a basket of fresh focaccia and sourdough bread and two scoops of whipped butter. The bread and butter were extremely delicious. The starter dishes were good and delicious but only baby potatoes with caviar I found out really exceptional. Then we tasted gravlax with celery root salad; truffle hummus; black pudding served with sous vide cooked egg yolk and hoisin sauce; beef tartare with mushroom ketchup. All of these dishes were amazing, but the black pudding and truffle hummus were out of this world. Also mushroom ketchup was a surprise for me. For the main dish, we were delighted with Cote De Boeufe steak paired with Brussels sprouts and roasted potatoes. The steak was perfectly done (medium rare) and the roasted potatoes were just on top of the coziness and comfort. Then desserts! The restaurant offered three different choices and we tried all of them. Chocolate Brownie with dark chocolate mouse and whipped cream; Rice pudding Apple crumble; Basque cheesecake with fresh honey and truffle flakes. In my opinion, all deserts were good and delicious, but I voted for Basque cheesecake and rice pudding, and my teenage kids voted for a chocolate brownie. The restaurant has a good wine list, but this time we skipped the alcohol and enjoyed kombucha and nonalcoholic IPA beer. It was a good experience and I highly recommend...
Read moreVery relaxed place in Praga, for the meat lovers absolutely recommended! The food is extremely nice, very simple in the thought but for sure well executed and satisfying! Highly recommend to try the kaszanka domowa outside the grill section which is obviously really good! Also high dove to the potatoes, probably best potatoes I ever ate in a restaurant. The service unfortunately was missing something, especially if you are going to a place where you pay good money for good food. We went on Sunday evening and I booked the table on the last spot of the day which was 18.45. Unfortunately as soon as we sat at the table the waitress told us that the kitchen was closing in 20 minutes so we needed to rush or we must have to wait a lot of time. Very sad to start your night like this, feels like you are not welcomed. Moreover the wine list was just showed at the table without suggestions and no recommendations at all, other minus. Something was off. The location is nice, small and cozy. Maybe not the most beautiful restaurant I ever seen but very familiar vibe. Maybe I will come back, bit for sure on...
