This is no ordinary restaurant…
I walked into La Ban for the first time last week and I felt at home. After a long day I walked in from the street and asked for a table. The staff were really kind and welcoming and I was seated right away.
After a few moments I realised this wasn’t just a run of the mill restaurant… I ordered the Pho Bo and waited with a perfectly chilled beer. The music played and the vibe was immaculate.
The pho was perfect and the flavours were totally out of this world - unexpectedly good for an unassuming street side restaurant.
I then had the crispy duck and pancakes. Loved it. Cooked to perfection and such good quality meat.
Throughout my meal my waiter Aleksander was checking in, refilling beers and making sure everything was just right. Special mention to him because he was my food guide and really helped me pick the right things from a varied menu.
Somehow he knew what was going to be right for me and I’m so glad I asked for his guidance. The guy is a wizard. Thank you Aleksander!
I walked out after paying a really reasonable bill and felt like a brand new man.
La Ban isn’t just a restaurant. La Ban is a place where you go and it’s a form of self care. Everyone in the place is chill and happy and now I know why.
The food 10/10.
The staff 10/10.
The music and ambience 10/10.
Do yourself a favour and go to this place. It’ll be the best decision you...
Read morewent here for a dinner. interior is quite hip and nice, was surprised by music which was playing - some pop music, so was mising some more authenticity. the service was okay. I really recommend to change wine choices, as the few that you have are quite average and do not pair well with the food. I tried a starter - Banh Cuon - kind of rice panckake with meat and mushrooms- which surprised me with the little amount of filling and no flavour (which was promissed in the menu). for a second dish I chose - Cha Ca La Vong - a fish dish with rice noodles - this one was really nice, the fish was fresh, I loved the amount of herbs, it was a nice combination, really recommend this dish. I also tried a bite of duck from my frien, but this one dissapointed me, as in the menu it was described as "melting in your mouth" type of dish, but wnded up being more chewy than a gum.
in general, looling into the price vs.quality I was expecting more, I know that it is quite new place, so I hope that the owners will think about it and will improve, as good asian food is very appreciated in...
Read moreFood was very disappointing, we ordered separate meals for a party of 4 and not one was worth the price. My personal meal was tasteless and the noodles were awful. The menu is misleading, we were charged 3 times more the amount we were expecting for prawns, which were tiny and again not worth the price. But the worst part of our visit was the rude behavior of our waitress (blonde hair, slim build); she was arrogant, disinterested, had awful body language, and was dismissive of feedback. A friend specifically requested no tofu in his dish, and received tofu. When we politely mentioned this the waitress effectively told us that it’s his mistake and not her problem. She then quite obviously refused to serve us for some time, before returning with the same spiteful attitude. On our way out of the restaurant she even stared at us with a mocking grin, as if she was reveling in her disgusting behavior. Absolutely comical. These type of toxic people have no place in hospitality, what an unpleasant person and experience overall. Do not fall for the reviews, avoid this place. We...
