Três Marmelos — Restaurant in Évora

It was a joy on our way back home from Valencia to visit Três Marmelos in Évora, the capital of Alentejo.

It is run by three friends who do everything: cook, wait on - everything.

The food was world class and I don’t use that term lightly. We have traveled extensively and eaten in many a fine establishment.

The dishes have very interesting combinations with taste sensations I have never experienced before.

I won’t go into detail as the only way to truly appreciate the excellence is to try it yourself. The menus rotate and can’t wait to return.

The wines are also sensational and the prices very reasonable considering the quality.

The menu, chalked on a board on the wall, does not make entirely clear what you're getting, but it doesn't matter because it's all amazing. I'm a picky eater and I downed foods I wouldn't normally touch. So good! I've eaten at some places where they have regular food fancied up with random bits. Here, it's clearly quality cooking from the ground up. And the service was some of the best I've experienced in Portugal. Friendly and explanatory, with no hurry, even though they had to turn people away at the door from their tiny restaurant. Best restaurant in Evora. Hidden gem. Fine dining at reasonable prices. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough! The three friends running this restaurant have done an excellent job. Sharing plates with seasonal, high quality ingredients cooked in fine dining style in generous portions. I could not fault any of the dishes! Service was friendly and helpful, explaining each dish to us. We brought our own wine and paid corkage. Restaurant was cosy and perfect for intimate dinner.
