Marisqueira Corte Real — Restaurant in Ílhavo

I’m reading all these negative reviews and I’m baffled by it all. We’ve visited this restaurant many times and have for the most part, enjoyed every outing. Most of our visits here are in the off season and perhaps when things are busier, there might be different staff working. The waiter that usually serves us is Antonio. He is a down to earth guy who makes you feel right at home. He’ll talk to you like you were a family member. How typical Portuguese. Nothing wrong with that in my book. After all, remember where you are. Service is quick and commentary by Antonio is always aplenty. Maybe some people don’t like that. If that’s the case, there are always restaurants around that charge you double than what they charge here and the waiter will only say “yes sir or no sir”. The restaurant was quite busy when we walked past around lunch time, so we decided to give it a try for dinner. We had a fish soup, the grilled sea bass and prawn rice and we didn’t really like any of it. The fish soup was more like a purée. The grilled sea bass was okay but very oily and with a lot of garlic (saying someone who does like a moderate portion of garlic!). The prawn rice was soup like and overall rather tasteless. Para empezar, quiero decir q estoy de acuerdo con las críticas que han publicado otras personas. 1° lo positivo. Ante la inundación y reconversion de restaurantes a comida rápida, léase pizzas y hamburguesas, es de agradecer que algunos mantengan restaurantes de corte clasico. Si vas a otro país, te gustara probar las especialidades locales. Lo filetes de pollo me han gustado. Los entrantes también. Con los platos q traen, no sales con hambre seguro. Eso aún es típico en Portugal. Lo q no me ha gustado. En la 1ra semana de julio fue muy complicado encontrar sitio p estacionar. Los entrantes, nada especial pero muy caros, más q nada se aprovechan por los 30mins de espera de la comida. Las patatas fritas me han dicho q no son de bolsa, si no q lo hacen ellos, no debería esforzarse, porque ya sea de compra o hechas por ellos, no se nota mucho la diferencia. Mi consejo es q se pasen a las de cuadrados pequeñas e tendrán un toque diferenciador e seguro q ni yo ni otros volverán a preguntar. El arroz es el mismo para todo. Arroz cocido con un cuadradito de knorr, seco. La olha del Arroz de Marisco, es casi una sopa. Nunca había visto algo así. Los camareros pretenden ser simpáticos pero se nota q es forzado, además son impacientes y algunos no saben ni lo q hacen. Tienen una tablet para parecer sofisticados, pero no saben ni usarla.
