Why didn't we try this place sooner?
On our last holiday to Portugal, we wanted something different from what we usually go for and having seen this restaurant countless times before, we decided to bite the bullet and try it.
The entranceway is lovely and sets the restaurant back from the road, meaning you don't have any road noise and pedestrian noise whilst enjoying your meal which is always a bonus for me.
The waitress showed us in and ushered us to our table and provided us with a menu and ample time to browse and choose our meal.
We noticed as we'd walked in that the tables were mostly occupied by Portuguese locals (always a good sign).
The food was delicious. I had Sea Bass Algarve Style and it was arguably one of the best fish dishes I had ever had in Portugal.
It wasn't expensive either, around 100 Euros for drinks and food for 4 people!
Amazing value for money and a lovely, authentic Portuguese restaurant, one which I will certainly return to on my next holiday here.
Thank you for your...
Read moreExcellent spot for a relaxed dinner, lovely atmosphere, cute decor, extremely friendly staff and great food.
Tried the prawns and the fried sardines for starters with bread and some spreads. The homemade fish spread with chillies, onions and peppers was amazing by the way. Fried sardines were probably the tastiest fish I'd ever had!
For mains, don't just stick to the English options on the menu. One of the first pages has the weekly 'special menu's in Portuguese - the waitress very kindly explained all the options to us. I tried the grouper fish which was her recommendation, and my brother's had some steaks.
My grouper was excellent - they removed the bones for me, and it was obviously fresh. The steaks were cooked to perfection and they put together a red wine sauce on request.
Definitely have desert. I tried the 'bolo da bolacha' which in English is translated 'cookies cake'. Wow. It was a cross between a tiramisu/biscuit pudding/layer cake and it was divine!
I'll be recommending to anyone who...
Read moreWorth a visit, not as bad as it looks from the outside. Gosh looks can be deceiving. I was about to make a U-turn when we walked over to Beira. Uninspiring and it looks like a tourist trap from the outside. But, if you’re reading the reviews, let me tell you it’s a good place. Solid food, seems fresh and it delicious. We started off with some bread, butter and sardine pâté. We had hoped the sardine page would be fresh, but it was a small cup of pate, unfortunately. For starters and dinner. We had Some Great tasty oven baked squid, they could’ve cleaned it a bit better and should have removed all the entrails from inside the body including its plastic bone. The chicken Piri piri was Delish, the accompanying fries were a bit uninspiring and tasted like oven fries. We also had the lamb chops, they were also delish. Perfectly grilled. The reviews so far seems solid. Staff was friendly and all speak English. We would def go again. It’s a great place...
