Franks: A Hidden Gem Amidst the Algarve's Culinary Tapestry As we gazed at the exorbitant prices on the hotel menu, we pondered whether it was worth venturing outside to explore the local dining scene. A few quick Google searches later, we decided to take a chance and called Franks, hoping they would have a table available within the next 30 minutes. Based on some reviews we had come across, we were skeptical that it would live up to the hype. But oh boy, were we pleasantly surprised.
Tucked away down a charming little alley, surrounded by lively bars and restaurants, Franks immediately caught our attention with its tasteful design. From the moment we stepped through the door, the service was impeccable, save for a minor mishap involving a dirty glass. The waiter was courteous, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout our dining experience.
To my disappointment, the chicken supreme dish that had initially caught my eye was sold out. However, the waiter enthusiastically recommended the beef cheek burger as an alternative, and I decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a fantastic choice. The burger was succulent, packed with flavor, and perfectly cooked. My wife opted for the fish, and her delight was evident as she savored every bite.
We capped off our meal with a selection of desserts, which, although not as refined as the main courses, were still undeniably delicious. While the mains stole the show, the desserts provided a sweet ending to our dining experience.
One notable aspect worth mentioning is that Franks goes above and beyond to accommodate families with children. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the restaurant was kid-friendly and even had diapers available for those unexpected moments when parents might find themselves caught off guard with their little ones.
In the end, Franks proved to be a hidden gem amidst the bustling Algarve dining scene. The quality of the food, coupled with the attentive service and the restaurant's warm ambiance, made for an unforgettable evening. So, if you find yourself in the area, don't hesitate to venture down that alley and discover the culinary delights that Franks...
Read moreNot one to write reviews, but this restaurant is a hidden gem. If you are visiting Albufeira, you must stop in to Franks. Went here based on some reviews of nearby restaurants and this did NOT disappoint. The mackerel appetizer was absolutely divine and the Market fish entree was exquisite. If you enjoy fish, please pop in for a bite because it was cooked to perfection. I LOVE food and am pretty critical of not only restaurants dishes but my own (in all fairness), so I do have a couple of notes on other parts of the meal. The soda bread with seaweed butter snack was good, but I so wish that the seaweed flavor was more prominent. I was actually very intrigued by this, but it more or less tasted like traditional soda bread and butter. I only hope that this is tweaked ever so slightly to highlight the seaweed saltiness and flavor. The short rib entree was also ok but need a touch of salt and an acid (would love to have seen some charred tomato in the dish). With that being said, please please please go and try the food here!!! I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and seriously the fish is WONDERFUL (do not change a thing!). Flaky, moist, crisp skin....AMAZING! I know they just opened recently and I feel the need to spread the word, as I can NOT let a place like this go unseen. Franks is a young restaurant and has so much potential given the chance. Not to mention the staff is friendly, engaging, and a pleasure to have met. I only wish them the...

The guys have developed a great concept with quality ingredients at the heart of their offering alongside a huge offering of genuine delight and passion for food and service.
The succint menu is modern and offers great value, as does the wine list, with all wines available by the glass too.
Service was on point, friendly and efficient, despite the restaurant being nicely busy.
Be brave, the approach to Frank's, which is situated at the end of a short dead end street, has the normal not so desirable f&b establishments... but walk past them to the end to experience warm hospitality along with good food and polished service.
Hats off to the young brigade who have taken the plunge to follow their dreams and open a charming spot in Ohlas D'agua on the Alarve. Give it a try, it won't disappoint.
We spent just €130 for a veritable feast, which included plenty of wine and a couple of house cocktails.
And do go all the way to the desserts, the Lemon Posset was tdf and the orange polenta cake came a very close second to...
