Firstly it's not as expensive as some places. So I would like to add a good balance to my review. My partners dish of chicken piri piri was a good portion with a nice salad and fries accompanyment. Mine however.... Felt like it was thrown on the table a couple of minutes later. I had the Portuguese steak, which was the worse thing I've ever tasted. Every restaurant as its own recipe, but hopefully this recipe stays a secret to o David's.... The dish was over salted, had remnants of unpeeled garlic, but no taste of garlic? I was asked if I wanted the steak done medium and I said yes. The steak was so thin it was impossible to gauge any level of cooking. The dish was from the oven also, so it was more than well done. Apart from salt, the whole dish tasted of nothing other than salt in a watery stock! I just wanted to pay up and leave, but no one made eye contact, it seemed I was being ignored.... But they noticed other people they tried to pry into the restaurant. In the end I stood up and walked inside to pay. I wasn't wasting any more time on this poor experience. Maybe it was a one off night, maybe I didn't pick the right dish. But if there wasn't an endless supply of tourists I doubt this restaurant...

The place is quite shabby, to the point the table cloth had obvious big holes. The heat inside was like a furnace, eventhough the evening was rather mild. An open refrigerator with sea food in it exposed to that heat was the decoration on the cake. This costs the place 1 star.
The food was a mixed cup of tea. The sea rice was quite good, the chicken piri piri ok (but barely eaten by the kids and in my opinion to dry), the salmon didn't pass my sons test who said it tasted strange, the fries wheren't convincing either. The real let down was the Madeira Kebab, which was almost cold when served, was super dry, yet watery in taste, a combination I know from cheap supermarket meat. The sangria was from the package and way to sweet. The house wine was ok, but I had so much better for half the price in Portugal.
The staff was very nice, but couldn't save the shortcomings from causing a loss...
Read moreFood was average. What was concerning was that our waiter tried to scam us by overcharging us. Our bill was 14.80 Euros and he wanted to take my credit card without showing me the total on the credit card reader. When I asked to see it, he put 1480.00 Euros instead and told me to tap my card. I told him that this is clearly not the total for our bill but he rudely told me that "the last zeros don't count" and to put my card in anyway. Only once I refused to pay by card and that I would pay by cash instead did he offer to remove the last few zeros and charge the correct price. I felt very cheated by the way he tried to steal almost 1500 euros from me and then when confronted about it, he tried to condescendingly tell me that I was wrong. Very unprofessional and would...
