It was ofc very expensive but the view and the aesthatic seemed very nice so we went there for dinner. The service was from the start absolutely terrible. First the waiter gave us quite the earful about being 10 minutes late for our reservation (we were in Albufeira for the the first time, on vacation, I really can't understand hoe you can harshen your tone so much for paying customers). My husband did not feel like having a big dinner and ordereda desert instead, and only I ordered a maincourse. They seemed to be very weirded out and sort of offended by this. As if it was soooo ridiculous and even illegal that he did not want a main course. You feel forced to order and eat alot and you do not feel respected AT ALL! I do not recommend this restaurant and the service is the worst. The people who claim the service was nice are probably the ones who ordered a lot and got all their money robbed out from them. Sorry to say but this was a one star experience from us.
Edit: response to owner's reaction Dear Casa del Mar,
Thank you for your response — though, ironically, it proves exactly the point I made in my original review. Your reply shows that your team is unable to handle criticism, denies facts that clearly happened, and is more focused on defending your ego than listening to honest feedback from paying customers.
We were ten minutes late for our reservation, and instead of welcoming us like normal guests, your waiter spoke to us in a very rude and condescending tone — which is completely unacceptable for a hospitality business, especially when guests are on vacation. My husband ordered only a dessert, and I ordered a main course. Your staff reacted with such discomfort, making us feel as if we had broken some unwritten law. The way they acted made it seem ridiculous and almost illegal that he didn’t want a full dinner — so yes, those were the right words to describe it. The fact that you, as the owner, now try to police which words I use in my review is just further proof of how arrogant and out of touch this place is.
You claim that the atmosphere is calm and not loud — that was simply not our experience. It was definitely noisy, and no, the vibe wasn’t relaxed when the people serving us were visibly annoyed and unkind. Instead of taking accountability, you accuse me of confusing your restaurant with another, which is both dismissive and false. I know exactly where I was, and I even have a photo of the dish to prove it.
Your response is not only defensive but clearly aggressive in tone — trying to discredit my words rather than acknowledging the very real issues. It’s clear that negative reviews are not welcome here, and that says everything. I’m sorry that honesty bothers you, but maybe instead of attacking reviewers, you should reflect on why guests leave disappointed in the...
Read moreWe arrived at 6 for our ur reservation so it was quiet. The venue is overlooking the beach on the cliff side so I would advise making a sea front reservation.
We were instantly greeted my the friendly service staff who were very attentive and discreet. The menu is mostly seafood however, there are other options. What I liked most about this place is that they pick your fish from a seafood counter in the restaurant.
For starters we shared the prawns in garlic. They were massive and so tasty. The portion was large so I would recommend sharing. We opted for bread with this and they brought out a lovely basket of different types of bread (olive, carob etc.) this was amazing for mopping up the lovely sauce.
For the main, we shared a Dover sole (this was for two). At first we opted for the turbot however our server kindly called me up to look at the portion size (1.6kg of fish) so we changed. I was thankful for this. This is served with new potatoes and a salad with a lovely garlic olive oil you can drizzle over the fish.
The cooked fish was perfectly deboned right in front of us. I can’t fault the cooking everything was cooked to perfection. The fish here is priced by the kilo if you opt for this. Our meal for two came to €90. This is 100% worth it one of the nicest meals I’ve had in a long time. If you want fresh seafood in Albuferia this is where you need to go! My pictures were taken when the food was half eaten because I...
Read moreThis was the best restaurant I went to on my holiday to Albufeira for lots of different reasons. First and foremost: the food. Secondly: the staff. Very well done indeed: such fast service, but also very friendly. Clearly this restaurant’s staff all help each other and don’t ignore people who are not in their sections. Thirdly, the establishment itself. It’s raised above the chaotic clamour of tourism and beautifully overlooks the sea with open balcony doors, with seating possible outside next to it. Lastly, the prices. The prices were so fair; dare I say, they could easily be higher to reflect the food and experience but it’s more testsrment and reason to come here and accessibly experience this place. The antipasti bread basket and trio of dips were so fresh and tasty. The calamari was easily the best I’ve had; not remotely stringy, perfectly battered and came with a really nice mile dip. The main course of large king prawns in the broth of chilli and garlic was similarly fresh and tasty with a generous portion. This was my second time ever having prawns and I’m glad this happened here since I’ll now be comparing all my future prawns to this standard. My friends similarly really enjoyed their portion of mussels and the tuna steak. The rosé was great and came in a chilled ice bucket and it’s own floor stand. TLDR; great food, prices, staff and establishment....
