We had a really enjoyable experience at Casa Nova in Albufeira, especially thanks to the great service and the friendly, attentive staff. I stopped by the day before to make a reservation and asked for a table at 20:30. The lady kindly explained that if we wanted to sit on the terrace, it would be better to come around 19:00–19:30. She gave me her card so we could stay in contact if anything changed. On the day of the reservation, I messaged to let them know we wouldn’t be able to arrive before 20:30. They replied immediately, assuring us they would hold the terrace table — and they did. That flexibility and responsiveness really made a difference. Service on the night was quick, friendly, and efficient. The food was good and well-presented, and the overall vibe of the place was very relaxed. Being close to the heart of Albufeira’s nightlife adds a different, lively energy to the atmosphere — a fun contrast to the calm of the terrace. All in all, a very positive experience. Great service, good food, and a location that blends calm dining with the buzz of the surrounding area. Worth a visit!

Mixed review, unfortunately the food was hit and miss. The octopus salad to start was amazing, lots of octopus seasoned really well was really good. The other starter was garlic prawns which were also really good. Unfortunately, the main courses were not so good, the seafood skewer was very poor, only 3 prawns, a tiny piece of calamari and a small piece of fish with two small pieces of peppers, accompanied by one boiled potato and a lot of carrots. The skewer was well over-cooked, the prawns were mush inside and impossible to remove from the shell, there was not enough of the other fish to form an opinion. The other main was cod which was cooked nicely but covered in far too much oil, the veg with the dish was very good. Most disappointing was when we tried to give feedback to the server on the skewer she just shrugged, had no interesting in asking what was wrong or how it could be improved. The steaks being eating by other tables all looked really good so give them a go, unfortunately the seafood skewer was a big miss for me.

I don’t know where to start, the atmosphere of this restaurant was A class. From the moment we walked in we were welcomed and the staff went above and beyond for us. We brought my little girl who is 2 and the staff interacted with her. They made her drink into a cocktail, we didn’t ask they just done it. They noticed she ate the strawberry from my drink and her drink so when she finished her dinner the girl behind the bar sent down a plate of strawberries for her. The starters were beautiful the right amount of cheese on the Nachos, and the cheese wasn’t oily. If you like steak please please order the tamahawk, I’ve no words to describe it. The presentation, the flavour, the portion. Not only was it the best meal we had in Portugal but probably the best meal I’ve had in a long long time and so reasonably priced. I’m sorry we didn’t go into the restaurant at the start of the holiday we probably would have stayed there every night as the food in the restaurant of Portugal was not great

1 star is far too many for this place. We sat down quickly because there was an empty table and now we know why (this is in contrast to Terrazzo whom regularly have people queuing up outside).

We were first given menus that stunk so bad of fish we had to use hand sanitizer to clean the nasty wrench of our hands.

We are not big meat eaters so we decided to order garlic bread to start, a pizza and some pasta; we undertand this is not typical Portuguese cuisine to order, yet we'd still hoped for edible food.

The garlic bread to start was clearly frozen and re-heated in the oven. We noticed a strange after taste with the garlic bread and figured out that the oven used must also be used for fish at the same time, or that the oven wasn't properly cleaned. Regardless the garlic bread tasted awful.

We then waited for a little over an hour for our main course while other tables had been served before ours. We were then served pasta with watery sauce and soggy vegetables that were inedible and a frozen pizza that also had this fishy aftertaste.

We could not finish our meals since the food was not up to standard. We made a complaint to a waiter who was kind enough to offer us another dish instead of the pizza. Yet nothing else on the menu would suffice.

Since we ate some of the pasta and not the soggy frozen vegetables served alongside it, we waited for our the remains pasta dish to be cleared from our table, upon which we were insulted in Portuguese. We now figured out the insult was probably a sexist comment towards my partner as 3 of the waiters, all of whom men, laughed precariously.

Given this very rude attitude of the waiters and dog-food standard food we wanted to leave immediately. Upon doing so we were whistled at by a waiter who told us to wait a moment. We did and we stood around for 20 minutes wondering what was happening. We thought that at this point if they wanted our money that badly rhey wouldve already taken payment from us! We then had a very awful chat with one of the managers, whom proceeded to be very aggressive towards me and my partner. We felt very scared by this as he seemed ready to knock us both out!

We were very kind enough to wait to pay at least for the frozen garlic bread and half eaten pasta.

I'd advise most tourists to avoid this place, the look of the restraunt is deceiving because it is nicely tucked away in the corner but run by poor management serving frozen oven food, its not...

Absolutely horrible and not worth half the price they want for it. Had calamari for a starter, which I could swear came from Lidl and their frozen section, made with reformed squid. Trust me, I had them before by mistake. Whatever this was it was not proper squid pieces. The oil they were deep fried in has obviously not been changed for ages, and you could taste the bitterness of it more than anything else. Nearly twenty two euros was the price of the main dish. I blocked out the name, but it was some king prawns, fish, pepper and onion. Grilled on a barbecue skewer and with two bits of squid thrown in. Real squid this time, for a change. I suspect because you really wouldn't have been able to hide it if it was anything else. Well I say grilled, it was more incinerated. Prawns became so bitter they were inedible, but, amazingly, the squid was still raw and slimy inside. I can't comment on whether that is dangerous for your health, as I spat it out as soon as I realised. So twenty two euros was paid for two bits of fish and some veg. If I could give no stars I would. Incidentally, if you are here looking for a good Portuguese restaurant, may I recommend Louro and Salsa. Great food and by far our favourite of all the restaurants we tried on this holiday. The only drawback is that it is not in...

Had a really underwhelming experience eating here recently with a large group. In contrast to the other reviews we found the food and service very unsatisfactory for everyone in our party.

Negatives: Rum and coke that was ordered was completely flat with no bubbles and had an exceedingly weak coke flavour Burger came out well done after it was ordered as medium rare (the waiter specifically asked) Carbonara was generally poor and nothing like an Italian carbonara, more like a microwaved meal Ribs were extremely dry and tasteless, lathered in sauce to cover it up Arrabbiata was generally bland Mushrooms with cheese tasted cheap and nasty Garlic bread was brick solid Skewers were very average Had to ask for a Margarita many times before it arrived Cheese was completely solid and unmelted on all dishes (pastas, burgers etc)

For the sake of some balance, I have noted the positives as well: White Russian cocktail was delicious Calamari was okay Chips were decent

There are far better establishments in Albufeira, and I'm really unsure as to why this one is rated so highly. Every member of our party had a bad experience and none of us are particularly fussy. This was the only bad experience out of many restaurants and eateries we visited in...
