Wow, I was so looking forward to this place. As a former coffee house owner, this is the type of place I miss now that I live in Portugal. However I was in for quite a shock.
We arrived right at opening so things were nice and mellow. Looking at the menu we saw all the common coffee drinks one would expect, espresso, cappuccino, latte etc. However in parenthesis next to the latte listing was the Portuguese drink galão. This was the only drink I noticed with a Portuguese rough equivalent listed next to it but as I was looking for a latte I may have missed others.
Now if you know about galãos you may also know that they are not very strong. In fact some cafe's go so far as to pull a second shot through an already brewed serving as, once again, they are not meant to be strong. And I personally, don't like them.
So having never been here before and as someone looking forward to a strong drink, I wanted to clarify why the word galão was listed and make sure I would get what I was expecting. Well the person who seemingly was the owner went off on me and told me that I was disrespecting him. I truly thought he was being sarcastic and with a smile I apologized and expected a laugh in return.
Instead he doubled down, yelling at me how he "is building a brand" and I should be ashamed at myself for coming into his establishment and insinuating that he is serving a second rate product. As we stood there in disbelief he kept going on. Needless to say, we turned and left. I am not going to spend four times the cost of the coffee drink I usually get and get yelled at no matter how good it might be.
And while I would guess that the coffee that comes from this establishment is quite good, we will never know. Instead we walked around the corner and got two wonderful meia de leites (somewhat similar to a cappuccino) and two pastel de nata pastries for the cost of one of his double lattes. Plus we got a warm smile and a heartfelt obrigada for...
Read moreAsante Boutique Coffee Roasters is a fantastic place for true coffee lovers. I ordered an iced latte, a cappuccino, an almond croissant, a plain croissant, and a chocolate cookie. Everything was excellent. The coffee was delicious and had a flavor profile unlike anything I’ve had before - a very pleasant surprise. The pastries were also top quality and paired perfectly with the coffee.
The quality of both the coffee and the baked goods was outstanding. The staff was kind and helpful, and the atmosphere made the experience even better. The café is spacious, with plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside as well. At the back of the café, there’s a roasting area where the owner carefully watches over the process to ensure every batch of coffee comes out just right.
This is a place meant for conversation, relaxation, and reading - they kindly ask guests not to use laptops, which helps maintain a peaceful and focused vibe. Prices are fair for what you get - great coffee and fresh, high-quality pastries are worth paying for, and it wasn’t overpriced.
It’s the perfect spot for a coffee break, either before or after heading to the nearby beach. There’s even a parking area right next to the café. I highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates great coffee. They also sell equipment for brewing at home using all...
Read moreFirst time in Costa da Caparica, this is the only specialty coffee I was able to find and it did not disappoint.
Thank you to the gentleman who helped explained the very delicious Drip Coffee. I wish I had gotten more! I've never had Drip Coffee so flavorful and they all smelt amazing and different. I purchased four for EUR 8.80.
My experience also went well. My boyfriend and I went at a busy time on a Thursday at 12:30pm. No chairs left but the area for six people (couches and chairs) were free but blocked by a red rope. I asked the lady if it's possible to sit there, she hesitantly said yes but was more willing after she looked around and noticed there were no seats left. Luckily after we finished ordering a table for two opened up. I ordered a Pistachio Croissant and Double Cortado for EUR 6.20.
The cafe only seems small and loud because of how popular it is. I think the people who own it really shows they care for it and have high quality specialty coffee. I was only in Lisbon for six days and we've visited three times! I highly recommend it to those who appreciate a fine cup....
