O Cacilheiro — Restaurant in Almada

One of the waiters was very arrogant. We asked before sitting down whether it is possible to have our francesinha without pork and they said okay, they can make it with turkey. The other waiter, while listening to our order, reacted as if we ordered rocks from the moon, laughed and said that he needs to talk with the chef. I asked whether he found my order "weird" and he said "yes"! I live in Portugal as a foreigner, and I know that it is possible to even find vegetarian francesinha. When I said that, he insisted that "It is not the original francesinha." If they are that arrogant about what people should prefer or shouldn't prefer, they shouldn't serve the tourists, and maybe only have the locals. Then they can brag about the "originality" of their food. I cancelled my order and left. Never again, I am not going to pay...

We came here for a dinner 3 days ago and we ordered clams as entree, octopus and steak as main dishes. The main courses were nice. However, we got a brutal food poisoning from their clams, all of us got extremely sick for 3 days now. Fever, belly and intestine pain, shivers and constant vomiting and diarrhea.

At the time, we felt the clams were soft and not fresh but it’s hard to absolutely tell with the sauce they came in. It’s unacceptable to sell non-fresh clams to customers, really unacceptable given the health issues that they can create when they are bad.

I have to give 1 start for this horrible experience and I won’t go back ever again that’s for sure. It has...

Good impression at first. Before ordering , the waiter gave us a plate with 6 pasteis de bacalhau and a cheese with different sauces. We took time to decide so I asked the waiter for advising and he recommended us a big plate of bacalhau and a pleasant home wine. The bacalhau was not well desalted and drowned in the oil with all the potatoes. At the end I asked for the bill and I found 12€ in addition. The waiter without saying anything took us that cheese and fried things for welcome before ordering and he asked it back saying "Se você comer você paga"...that make sense.
