PZA Pizza Alla Pala — Restaurant in Almada

I’ve been a loyal customer here for years. The pizzas? Genuinely great for their style — not quite Neapolitan (still the gold standard in my book), but a very respectable and tasty change of pace.

Now, onto the less-tasty part: the service. On my last visit, my experience was, shall we say, garnished with a generous dose of awkwardness. A server was being trained (fair enough), but the presumed owner was hovering like a watchdog. I ordered a pint of Peroni. Took a couple of sips. Flat as a pancake. I flagged it, and the owner responded with the confidence of someone who owns a brewery — “I tasted it earlier, and we have the best beer in the area.” Meanwhile, my taste buds were filing a complaint.

My wife asked for ice — a simple request. “We’ve run out,” they said. Fair enough again. But moments later, he arrives like a magician with a single, lonely ice cube… which he ceremoniously dropped into her Coke, after letting a splash of water in first. The cube was so small it probably evaporated from embarrassment.

All in all: great pizza, lively street vibe, but service? Lacking warmth, lacking humility, and a bit too quick to doubt the customer. I used to recommend this place to friends. Sadly, I’ll be...

Bad attitude...

They will try to push you to have an extra large pizza, because it takes less time to do just a large one???

The waiter told me that if I choose just a large pizza, it would take 40 minutes to do it... An extra large would be around 20 minutes... 😂

Of course I told them that, in the same space of the oven that fits a extra large pizza, also fits a smaller one... But If the house does a discount I'll would accept, because it's for their convenience, not mine...

The waiter told me, no of course not, I'm asking because it will take less time..

😂 So I told her, if I have to pay more for a pizza size that I don't want, just put my pizza in the same space of the oven, where the extra large pizza would fit, because mine is smaller 🤪

But she didn't care... I guess it was a question of logistics... But what I felt was that they just wanted me to buy the extra large... As punishment I've waited around 40 minutes...

So I did...

Always had the best experience with PZA. However this 1 star goes out to Bolt platform with today’s experience, hoping that PZA themselves start to think if it’s a good idea to work with a platform that does not protect their customers Today the pizza arrived late and obviously cold, atypical poorly done elastic dough margheritta with barely cheese on it. Bolt thought a 3€ refund was “appropriate” in their words, and o kindly refused it and said the all experience wasn’t only a quarter bad, since the total was around 15€, It was bad all the way!! Having said that, I still hold PZA as my nr 1 go to pizza...
