This place is very special - both my husband and I had the cod, pudding for dessert as well as a bottle of wine. The cod was incredible as was the pudding. Overall the meal only cost 45 euros which for the portions and quality of the meal, was incredibly worthwhile. Everyone working there was incredibly friendly and efficient. If you want to eat here, make a reservation or come when it opens and you may get a table. We tried three times and was turned down twice (they don't waitlist, if you show up and there is a table, you get to stay. Otherwise you will get turned away). While we were there, I saw 5-6 groups get turned away. Four groups got lucky because a reservation for a group of 10 didn't show up and they were able to get in at the right time.

We wanted to try typical azorean dishes here so we ordered limpets and alcatra. The limpets tasted pretty good - very buttery and fresh; we found the alcatra extremely heavy here (we tried this dish at a couple of other restaurants in Terceira) and chunks of fat floated to the surface which was a little unappetizing. Despite the meat being soft, it came out a little dry and actually did not have much flavour itself. The flavour was found in the heaping bowl of “soup”/stew, but because it was so fatty and heavy we tried not to dip the meat in too much. The alcatra comes with triple carb: rice, “sweet” portuguese bread, and fries. Just skip the fries. Theres no parking to my knowledge, but there is some street parking outside (free); can be tricky to park in the tight streets.

We enjoyed some great and authentic food in this family run restaurant. Be warned, this restaurant can get very busy, so make sure you have a reservation. Service is very efficient and friendly, even though all the tables were fully occupied when we visited. We enjoyed some very good black pudding and a typical regional dish: alcatra, a meat stew served in a clay bowl with bread on the side. The food was great, but we had trouble finishing everything. The portions are really big, so make sure you are hungry when visiting O Chico. Staff speaks basic English.

It looks like a family owned restaurant. The people were very friendly and the food was amazing. We went for dinner and we had the grilled limpets, the grilled squids and the grilled octopus. We also tried the house pudding which was amazing. The next day, we went for lunch and we had the Alcatra. This dish was exceptional… It was the best food we had in Angra, and we would highly recommend this place. Make sure to reserve a table for dinner because the place gets quite busy!

This is a simple, unpretentious eatery with local charm and a pleasing menu. Lots of ceramics, like you're almost in the kitchen! Great central location near the waterfront. Yes, it gets busy so go early and/or make a reservation if possible. One of us ordered the shrimp delight and grilled octopus and the other had chicken and chips. Side salad with both. All were excellent. Service was friendly and efficient. Great value. Recommended.

Found this place by chance and it made our night, we shared the Alcatra for 2 (but it could feed 4 you get so much!) came with a sweet, traditional bread which you put the beef and gravy on to (heaven!) but also chips and rice, we also shared a half litre of red wine and one large beer too, the total was 30.50 euros - would I go again? YES...TOMORROW !!! thank you xx
