This hotel is not pretending you are in Sheraton. But has all the basic you need for the stay. Location is great - 2 minutes to marina, 2 minutes to main square. Next door there is a snack bar with great coffee , or salad/snack restaurant and much more. ||The receptionists were very helpful .||Room and common areas are in good shape, clean and functional.||Some of the furniture need to be replaced, but still ok. There is no fridge or the safe in the room. There is plenty of pillows or blankets.||We booked a suite (haha) - I don't know how the "just" a room looks like - our suite was 2 beds (one double one singe). Ac is working well, except we had to move the beds otherwise I would get sick - it was blowing exactly on my head and neck - we rather decided to switch it off and later we didn't need it anyway.||We had a room with "balcony" . Don't be surprise - the balcony is probably 20 cm wide (a normal size in old Portugeese buildings) so no evening with the book:-).||||The breakfast is basic ( salami, cheese, cereal, yogurt, juice..) I get fed up with salami 3 day , so I just went to the next door and bought a salad:-)||The hotel was almost empty during my stay.||||The wifi. I choose this hotel because of free wifi (since we usually plan second day at the evening). Unfortunately first two days something went wrong and no connection. We pointed this to reception and they repaired it. In this case - there is free wifi in a few places (bar at marina, next door coffee etc. (So you could survive:-)||||As some people pointed - could be very noisy. You are on the street which is connection with marina and another part of the city - so there is a constant traffic . It usually die around midnight and starts again around 7:00 am. Also you can hear the chatting between people on the street - however that's why we travel (to get the local atmosphere ) - right?:-) I was anyway too tired so I just put my head on the pillow and died:-).||For the money we paid it was reasonable, clean and...
Read moreExcellent central location. There're a lot of stores and restaurants around the hotel. Nice facade of the hotel building. It's better to be informed that you will take all your staff on the second floor without elevator! There're no problem for me but for a lady's will be a bit difficult to lift all staff to the hotel reception and then to the room without elevator. This hotel isn't suitable for a people with disabilities.||Breakfast.... the worst breakfast, only cold cuts: cheese and strange ham and nothing else! Some bread, honey and jam. Local tea is ok but coffee is worst! ||A lot of humidity and a bad smell in the room. Receptionist couldn't charge my credit card on the departure day. The payment machine didn't work properly but she told that in a problem with a chip on the card....lol my credit card works properly but not at this hotel. ||I didn't have cash and just ask to charge amount of stay by the number of my credit card. Reception were very surprised because they don't know how to do this... Probably they just want to get cash and kidding with a technical problem of the credit card of their guests....who knows... I just took a taxi and went to the airport, my credit card has been charged by this hotel. The end of story... LOL||Angra do Heroismo is beautiful place to visit!!! Really...
Read moreEven though the hotel is 2 stars there are basic standards that even a 2 star hotel should have. For example, the toilet brush was disgustingly rotten and dirty (it costs 2€ to buy a new one). The showers had curtains that were also dirty and sticked to the body when we were having a shower. We do understand that the bathroom is from the 60s but we believe that even a bathroom from the 60s can be improved with the time. There was a sock under the bed which implies that the bedroom wasn’t clean. The air conditioner was broken and in an island extremely humid and in the middle of the summer, this is not very nice. The paper cups in the bathroom, that even though we understand they are planet friendly, were disgusting and could be replaced by glass ones instead. The breakfast was extremely poor. The instant coffee was very bad, there wasn’t any fruit and if you’re a person that doesn’t eat bread or sugary cereal there wasn’t any other option available. ||It has indeed an amazing location, but since the island is so small, any other hotel will do.||Nevertheless, if you like camping this...
