After a late flight into Terceira we stopped off at Birou Bar as it was recommended by our hotel receptionist. We ordered the Alcatra sandwich with homemade French fries. It was our first experience of Alcatra and it was so good that we went on to order it everywhere we could on the island. We even returned to Birou Bar to have it again. Only comment would be that they have the windows open in the small restaurant as it gets very hot in the bar and as there is a smoking area directly outside, the bar fills with the smell of smoke and they won’t let people sit upstairs to avoid the smell. One of the wait staff also gave us a lot of attitude when we asked to sit away from the window to avoid the smell which caused us to leave - not excellent - and the reason for four stars.
