Taberna Shakai — Restaurant in Braga

One of the key factors of making good japanese foods is fresh ingredients and I think Shakai nails it. I was positively surprised with my experience here, all of the dishes I tried were fresh and yummy - such a feast in my mouth.

The place itself is very cute with a nice concept with artsy Ukiyo murals. Down to the classy plates, tea cups and teapot.

Our waiter spoke very good English with a posh accent and was very friendly. He even took his time to describe what the sushi are made of.

Overall, my experience was very good and I'd totally recommend this place...

I’m travelling alone so I choose restaurants where previous reviewers say that the staff were friendly, because unfriendly service can ruin even the best food. At Taberna Shakai I had really good food AND was treated very kindly by the friendly staff (as you can see in the photos) I had miso soup, octopus takoyaki, which were nice and light and maguro tataki. SO impressive ! Definitely a large discovery and a clear Braga highlight. The quality of the food is excellent, stunning, unexpected. One of the best sushi I had in my life so far. We also had gyozas which were divine. Outstanding staff, super attentive while discreet, quick, above standard.
