I didn’t want to be unfair and gave Méze Brunch a second chance, but now I feel that 2 visits are sufficient to leave a review. The first time I ordered a cold salmon bowl and found it very unimpressive and lacking flavor. I was aware that the bowl would be cold, but didn’t expect to see considerable amount of raw quinoa seeds mixed with the cooked ones. I ate part of the bowl, picking out mostly salmon, but overall it was too bland and undercooked quinoa made it difficult to enjoy and finish. I thought that may be I wasn’t lucky and if many people like this place, I need to come back and try ordering something else. So I returned for lunch and ordered a bowl with vegetables. This time everything was cooked, but the taste was lacking and vegetables were too oily for my taste. Salmon bowl we ordered was a bit better than mine with vegetables, but my second impression was not significantly better than the first one. The decor is pleasant and service is good (even though the person who took the order made a mistake with it initially, but they fixed it quickly and it’s not a big deal in my opinion), but my main complaint was food lacking flavor, sometimes undercooked and other...
Read moreThis seems like an overall great place, especially if you are looking for brunch food (which I wasn’t this time). They have some “non-brunch” things like hot or cold bowls , hamburgers and a “bowl do dia”. They day were there it was a chicken pasta salad. My husband said it was “ok”, but the strawberry lemonade was really good. I had their fresh salmon poke bowl and mint iced tea. I enjoyed both. I do need to call out the iced tea here though. Most places I have tried to order iced tea in Portugal, it is the canned/bottled super sweet Lipton version (which I do NOT like). Here however, the iced tea is real tea- brewed ahead of time, chilled and served over ice. They do not add sweeteners, for which I am eternally grateful for. The meals we saw others order looked appetizing and I would return to try their other options. If I am ever in the area, I will make it a point to go in and order whatever iced tea they have that day. This style of iced tea needs to be normalized in...
Read moreB runch in Braga: A One-Man Show with a Side of Olive Oil Rolled in at 10 AM on a Wednesday, thinking I’d beat the rush. Spoiler: I did not. The place was buzzing like a beehive with 15 tables, one heroic waiter, and one cook who may or may not have sold their soul to keep up. Despite what looked like a brunch edition of Survivor, the food came out delicious, fresh, and healthier than my intentions. I even dared to ask for extra olive oil (because Portugal, obviously), and the waiter – clearly a zen master in disguise – delivered it without flinching, sweating, or flipping a single table. Yes, prices lean a little fancy, but for a meal served with grace under fire and food that could make a kale-hater rethink their life choices? Worth it. Will I be back? Absolutely. If nothing else, just to see if that waiter ever...
