Avoid. As a Portuguese citizen, I wanted to support local, and it is always a treat to find places I never heard of before. We stopped by Taberna do Javali, after ignoring the bar at the entrance of the castle, thinking the shade and the busy atmosphere meant better quality! I now strongly believe we were quite wrong... The restaurant was busy, but it wasn't a Friday night kind of busy. There were at least four staff members, one or two service the restaurant area, and two others serving the terrace area. We sat on the terrace and just before we'd asked if they serve Aperol. The waitress who served us said they didn't. I asked for the cocktail list... Which took 5 minutes to arrive at the table, only for me to read that they have Aperol. After 10 minutes of waiting, she came to take our order, I asked again if they were put of Aperol, to which she replied: 'yes, we serve Aperol' Ok, fine... She misunderstood. Then 5-8 minutes after, drinks arrived. The Aperol was alright but it tasted of cheap wine, and it stank of cheap wine. We stayed for a while. Music was ok, atmosphere was fine. Went to the toilet, asked one of the waitresses where I could change the baby, to which she replied - 'in the toilet'... Well, Einstein wouldn't know better! We then asked for the bill, and left the money on the table and left. Normal costume in Portugal... We got out, stopped by the icecreams, no one collected the money. We went out, looked at the castle, took a few pictures, right in front of the restaurant. Stayed there for a while, to only be greeted by the original waitress: 'hey! Did you pay?' I told her to go back to the table and see the payment before shouting in front of other guests. Which she did. No apology. Nothing. I do not recommend this place at all, unless you like to waiting 20 minutes for a drink...
Agora levantar a mesa parece-me um bocado demais. SIM!!! 60minutos!
Read moreVery interesting place with good views and good tasting food. The homemade burger we ordered was brought in a short amount of time and the staff was friendly and we were able to communicate with them in Spanish no problem. However, I’d be better if sometimes the waiters would pay more attention to what’s going on around them as sometimes they can be seen using their phones and you might have to wait a little bit until they realize you need something. Other than that:...
