Restaurante Delhi Darbar — Restaurant in Caldas da Rainha

We visited in July 2017 as a party of 7 people. We've been there before and expected the same tasty Indian food as we had just a week before that. I was very disappointed, however. Plus the Service wasn't good. Some guys were friendly but others were a bit arrogant. I didn't enjoy being treated a bit like a foolish tourist (considering I've been coming to Caldas for the past 9 years). The food was very mediocre , not what you would expect from a restaurant :. Biriyani wasn't tasty at all, onion bhajis were so over fried they were solid hard. White tablecloth was stained. I can recommend lassi and sag aloo, though, which were fantastic. Portions were big for us and we left a lot of food , that's considering we ordered some meals to share anyway. I asked for a class of water but they didn't like it, said one glass of tap water is ok but if I wanted more I'd have to buy a bottle (which I didn't mind but didn't like their attitude). We like heart warming Indian food. So since the first day we moved to Caldas, more than 6 years ago, we became regular clients of this restaurant.

We come here almost weekly for their special lunch menu: naan bread as a starter, a chicken curry of your choice with rice and a alcoholfree beverage. All that for not even €8.

Today however we encountered the most unpleasant experience.

The food was ok, as always. But when we paid our bill the price was twice as high than expected.

So we checked with the (new) waiter and asked if they stopped serving their lunch menu as usual.

No he said, but since we didnt explicitly asked for it, he charged every food item at the normal menu price. He refused to correct our bill, even after asking him...twice.

Needless to say that after this dissapointing experience, we won't be coming back . It's not (only) about the money. It's about this not being an hospitable way to treat...

I ordered takeaway, and asked the guy, who apperentaly was the manager, how much it will take - he said 10 minutes. After 25 minutes of waiting outside, I came inside to check about my order. Apparently they forgot about my order and the same manager asked again the kitchen to make it .. I didn't want to wait more and asked th mnager to cancel my order - he REFUSED to do so, he tell me I need to wait and was not very polite about it. After waiting moe 3-4 minutes inside I asked to cancel it one more time, they again REFUSED and I left the place without the food. So Mr. manager, you can take my Euros - and for all of you looking for this place - with this kind of "management" I highly recommend to...
