Great views, but that is where it stops. Having done more than a hundred restaurant reviews, I honestly cannot think of another restaurant in the ENTIRE world where the service could possibly be worse! It is frankly unbelievable and somewhat perplexing that most tables are filled, yet almost nobody is ever served! The smug waiters waft around looking busy making sure not to make any eye contact with anyone ever! Why do people allow themselves to be abused like this? If service is consistently this bad, why not allow patrons to order directly from the kitchen and even have them pick up the food themselves with a buzzer system? Every year I return in the naive hope that this year will be different and it never is! Yet bizarrely the restaurant is almost always full (with unserved, and mostly hungry patrons seemingly only enjoying the lovely views). Save yourself the abuse and pick anywhere else because the service is guaranteed to be better! Then there is the final insult of having a ridiculous “cash only” policy?!...

☕ Confeitaria da Guia – Cascais

This charming café is located near Eurostars Cascais, just a 15-minute walk along the coast. The seaside path is absolutely beautiful and makes the stop even more worth it.

We ordered a local beer for €6 — which felt fair given the amazing view and peaceful setting. I noticed a cappuccino was priced at €2.50, which is very reasonable for the area, but unfortunately we couldn’t order coffee that day because they were experiencing a water issue they were in the process of fixing.

We tried two savory snacks: a samosa and a cheese-filled pastry ball. Both were tasty, and perfect for a light bite with drinks.

The place itself is very peaceful with stunning views of the ocean. It’s a great spot to relax and enjoy the scenery away from the busy town center.

👉 Important to note: They only accept cash, so make sure to bring some with you.

Despite the temporary water issue, I really enjoyed the vibe and would definitely recommend it for a quiet break...

Comedicly poor service. Took 30 minutes and two wrong orders to get coffee and juice.

Tried ordering a simple morning coffee and peach juice. Gave us espressos 10 minutes later, we call them out on the wrong order, waiter insists that espresso is coffee. Yes, but it's not the one we ordered. Come back 5 minutes later with a strawberry smoothie. At this point we have waited 15 minutes for four drinks and gotten two comically wrong orders. My Mother thinks this is hilarious and bursts out laughing. They take back their wrong orders. And finally give us our correct drinks after a total of 30 minutes. It took 4 staff, serving a mostly empty restaurant 30 minutes to make two coffees and pour us some juice. Laughably bad. When they finally delivered the correct order the waiter exclaimed "Happy Family!", which in fact we were not. View is...

They don’t accept cards though have small printed announcements on the walls. Luckily we had some cash. 2 double espresso and 2 cold pastel de Nata = 8eur. The order was made on a cash desk. Good view but it’s so stressful to realise that you might have not enough cash to pay at the end so I recommend to sit at another place. Please make big announcement and tell your customers about this specific, as I really can’t believe that in XXI century any cafeteria doesn’t accept cards.
