I have been a usual visitor of Casa da Guia for more than 20 years, which is one of my favourite places in that area. Yesterday I had the worst ever experience in Palaphita Cascais when my two girls were barred from "entering " the place ( mind that this is an open space in nature without any real definition of the space apart from a few cord barriers at the entrance). Throughout the last years some wooden seats started to appear there and it took me a while to understand that this is what it looks almost an alternative / hippie style lounge bar/restaurant, which is not always open. We went as a family, a couple and my two girls and I was unaware that this establishment sold açaí ice cream. The kids asked me if they could get their usual açaí from their usual place a few meters away. While they were away, I looked at the overpriced menu and realized that there was an açaí product which I had to ask if it was a milkshake or the actual ice cream. I asked for one ( over priced at 9 euros) to see the difference from the regular açaí sold in two other establishments in Casa da Guia. When the kids arrived, and even though the space is under the pine trees and where visitors can walk alongside the wall near the cliffs and where the magnificent sea views are avaliable from any spot of the entire Casa Da Guia, one of the very unpleasant waiters brought me my debit card and a receipt stating that my daughter had asked to return it to me as they were not allowed to "enter" the place with their açaí. I was appalled with this and argued that when they left , we were not aware that they also sold açaí and the space was within nature anyway. They were adamant that the kids could not seat with us in the terribly uncomfortable logs of wood that they call "seats" and in the meanwhile the açaí I asked arrived. Half the size and double the price of the other açaís sold in Casa da Guia. Being that this product looked completely different from the usual açaí sold in Casa da Guia,I argued that the girls should be allowed to join us as other restaurants there have allowed my daughter to get an açaí from another establishments and join us back. We had gone to Palaphita to see an art exhibition, to unwind listening to the music that was being played live there and to relax watching the sea. The rudeness, lack of empaty and unkindness of the employees and owner completely spoiled my mood as we had to stay there because we had ordered already and the kids went away to eat their ice cream before they returned to join us. I didn't eat what I ordered as I was really upset with the ghastly behaviour of everyone who works on that ridiculous overpriced place and requested the complaint book where I expressed what happened. They didn't charge the açaí that I didn't eat but the icing on the cake was the pettiness of the owner when she saw my girls looking at the untouched açaí and asked an employee to remove it immediately from the table,to which I sarcastly asked if he was afraid the girls would try it and his answer was a blunt yes. Some emotional intelligence and empathy training are needed there. Having a business is not just putting some chabby seats outside and charging a fortune taking advantage of the wonderful sea views that have been there for free for years. Terrible idea for the Casa da Guia Management to allow such a place to be there. To avoid at all costs (pun intended). It's terrible in all senses. All the other restaurants in Casa da Guia have actually a much better view and definitely a completely different approach to customer...
Read moreThis is an amazing restaurant! Very authentic Brazilian food, everything tasted excellent. The atmosphere is great, you feel like you are dining in the middle of the Amazon rainforest. There is a mix of outdoor seats and covered seats (inside cozy igloo-style buildings). I visited during the winter and was told that in the summer they have a lot of live music. I will definitely come back in the spring or summer, I think the vibe of this place is amazing, and can only imagine what it is like when the weather is warmer. Lots of good options on the menu for vegetarians. Bonus points for the focus on sustainability and for being a dog-friendly location! The staff were very friendly and helpful (English menus are available), they were very happy and proud to tell us the story of the restaurant (which is owned by a family who comes from the Amazon). You can tell the owners and staff really care about the place and the experience that their guests have. I highly recommend...

The soft ocean breeze, the golden light melting into the horizon, and the smooth beats of the live DJ set the perfect mood for a relaxed yet vibrant evening.
We received exceptional service from Mr. Marcos. Attentive without being intrusive, warm yet professional. Mr. Marcos made us feel genuinely welcome from start to finish. It’s rare to find a server who reads the table so well and adds to the evening with such grace and good energy. Thank you, Marcos, for making it feel special.
The vibe here is laid-back luxe: barefoot elegance, fresh cocktails, and a crowd that’s just the right blend of locals and curious wanderers.
Highly recommend for anyone visiting Cascais. Come early to grab a good spot and soak it all in. Will...
