6:46 Lunch €20-25 My daughter and I came on a vacation and went to Gustos 45 minutes before they closed. We were met with an empty restaurant and very upset faces. We were told we have till 11pm to eat, pay, and leave. Our waitress (she had dreads) was very nice, took our order and the food came out very fast. We were taking pictures of our food and the restaurant to post on our socials when our waitress came up to us and visibly embarrassed she told us the owner says to eat fast as we only had 30 mins to leave. We told her that's more than enough time so please don't worry. The owner stood by the bar staring at us visibly upset. We ate very quickly and was out of the restaurant 1 minute before close. On our last day I went back to the restaurant alone and the same waitress with the dreads sat me in the corner behind an old man and his wife. He was being nasty and raising his voice to his wife the whole meal. I got on FaceTime with my mom and we were talking. Then all of a sudden the old man turns around and starts yelling at me calling me rude because I was on FaceTime. Told me to get off the bloody phone so I told him No sir, I had to listen to you be nasty to your wife this whole time and me being on FaceTime is the same as him sitting here in person getting loud with his wife except I wasn't being loud. He turned around to walk away, when my mom says what's happening so I told her just some grumpy old man yelling at me. He turns around and gets in my face (he's standing over me) so l told him I'm not your wife and if you touch me I will not be as nice as her. I never got up out my seat, raised my voice, or cursed even while he was yelling at me and spitting in my OJ. He was obviously upset at something before I sat down and I guess he took it out on me. None of the staff intervened but that's ok as I didn't feel unsafe just shocked that this was even happening. I then see the owner visibly upset once again walking to the front and on the phone but I didn't think anything of it. I asked for another OJ and explained mine was spat in while the old man was yelling at me. The male waiter brought me another OJ. I paid the bill, and asked if it was ok that I sit here. He told me no problem, take your time. I left a tip on the table and was finishing my drink. A very nice couple and their little girls sat beside but in the table in front of me and ordered an exotic looking drink in a pitcher. The lady looked back at me and we smiled at each other so I said “forgive me for interrupting but what's in that pitcher" as it was so beautiful. They told me it was a passion fruit sangria and said they ordered 2 glasses but because of the language barrier they were given a pitcher. They then offered me a glass. I declined, but they insisted that I try it and said they couldn't finish it so I got up and they served me some. I realized they were American so we got to talking and they told me they moved to Portugal 2 year ago from Massachusetts.I told them we were thinking of doing the same, thanked them and walked back to my seat. The gentleman waiter came to check on me when I heard from inside someone yell NO NO NO. I then noticed it was the owner and she was giving me dirty looks. This made me very uncomfortable so I left. I thanked the couple again and the sweet gentleman waiter as well. The food was very good, the wait staff very attentive, but the owner needs a lesson in customer service and making patrons feel welcomed. As an owner she should've found out what actually happened before treating me that way especially as I was alone. Although everything else was great | will...
Read moreIt started badly and despite efforts to redeem the situation, it ended badly. We arrived very late and could tell staff were exhausted and just wanted to close up and go home- all very understandable (we were also tired and hungry and wanted a quick turn around). We appreciated them taking us in and serving food quickly. Great wine, good food (Diablo pizza excellent) but that didn't make up for the bad vibes unfortunately. We felt very unwelcome and couldn't wait to leave. The seething resentment from *one of the waiters was awful. We gave a big tip at the end to show our gratitude and we're shocked when *the waiter swooped in, snatched it from the table without a word of thanks. We left disgusted and my partner and I agreed it was the worst customer service we have had in all our years visiting Cascais. We vowed never to return. There are plenty of other places serving equally good food, if not better, without the poor attitude coming from the staff (one in...

We visited Áugusto Pizzeria da Gau around 4:30 PM when the restaurant was nearly empty. We asked to sit at a table with four chairs and a sea view (we were five people) and politely requested an extra chair or to add a small table. The owner refused, claiming it would interfere with service — and insisted we either sit away from the view or directly in the sun.
We ended up ordering takeaway. But after eating nearby, we passed the restaurant again and saw five adults and a toddler seated exactly where we had requested — with an added chair and an extra table.
The owner’s attitude was rigid and unwelcoming, and clearly inconsistent. It felt like we were dismissed without reason. Beautiful views don’t make up for bad service and poor treatment...
