Sushi del Mar — Restaurant in Cascais

Absolute despicable experience at this restaurant. I was so excited to try this sushi spot while on vacation with my family given the amazing reviews but instead left with a terrible experience, albeit great party story. Completely unbelievable but my family and I saw a literal cockroach scurry along where the wall and floor meet in the interior dining area, parallel to our table. I was completely mortified and notified the manager however he did not believe me and even argued with our family that we were trying to get a discount. We took a picture in the moment and he completely refused to look at. His behaviour was completely bewildering! He was horribly rude, practically shouting at me and even called me a “dumb Canadian”. We obviously decided to leave. Although we never got our food he harassed us for payment and tried to add a tip even though we were not served by anyone. I have never experience something like this before and can not believe this happened at what looked to be an esteemed restaurant. I am only a tourist but would call Portuguese food...

We saw the restaurant above the fish market and noticed there’s a course menu and the highlight of the course is the fatty tuna (otoro). We were excited to receive two dishes from that course. After a short wait, the first dish arrived, but the items we were looking forward to never came.

Eventually, I reviewed the menu again and asked the woman when the otoro tuna would be served, only to be told that it was unavailable that day. If we had been informed in advance, we would have changed our order. That middle-aged woman had no remorse and said, "You didn't check the stock." It's not something one usually inquires about for fish at Sushi restaurant.

In the end, a smart man who seemed to be the manager apologized politely, but the experience left a bad taste. Honestly, while the sushi looked good in photos, it wasn't that ..( especially sushi rice), and I doubt I will return or recommend it to friends. The behavior of just one server ruined the...

Absolutely amazing! €35/person for the tasting menu. Excellent quality, flavour, presentation and the quantity is more then expected. Friendly and fast service too.

Extremely impressive! I have tasted better /fresher quality sushi but only in super high end restaurants or in Japan but I would be expecting to pay more then double or triple the price!. For the price they are charging the quality and preparation is amazing.

Could be our favourite sushi restaurant in the world!

There are also some unusual rolls and nigiri. The tuna Foie gras is great and the hot maki are very interesting too.

The only room for improvement i think will be to have a larger selection of different fish on the menu but what they do have is...
