Fantastic bakery and cafe. We were in Castelo Branco for an appointment and had stopped here for lunch. Very glad we did because they make the most amazing salads! We had the chicken salad and the cheese salad. Each salad was a really big bowlful of mixed salad leaves, olives, cherry tomatoes, croutons and either chicken or cheese and they were made from wonderfully fresh ingredients. Excellent value for money. They also served us the best black tea we have had yet in Castelo Branco! They were very friendly and we will definitely be back next time we are in Castelo Branco because we want to try...

Belar is a beautiful place to sit inside and out. The interior resonates with original materials and craftsmanship that would not look out of place in Kyoto. Pull up a chair outside and you can watch as people wheel out local cheeses from Castelo Branco's old market. I had the pleasure of meeting the original owners. Já tínhamos por hábito nas idas a Castelo Branco passar por esta pastelaria, nunca adorámos mas nunca decepcionou. Atualmente parece ter mudado de gerência e está realmente muito mau. Uma autêntica confusão, muitos empregados mas todos com pouca experiência, muito perdidos, atendimento muito demorado, perguntaram-nos o que queríamos 3 vezes, duas pessoas diferentes e acabaram a trazer mal o pedido. Temos de ir pagar ao balcão atualmente, tive com a bebé no colo imenso tempo porque demoram imenso tempo a fazer tudo. Até a tirar um café. Há empregados que mal falam português e temos de repetir pois claramente nem sempre percebem o que dizemos. O sumo de laranja natural metade do copo era gelo... e o rissol de carne não eram muito saboroso e a própria massa parecia um bocadinho crua. Não prevejo grande futuro para um sítio com tanta história se continuarem a trabalhar assim. Simpatia dos empregados também nem vê-la. Não conto continuar como...
