We had lunch at restaurant Kalifa because it’s next to a car park. My boyfriend was really hungry, so we didn’t think too much and fell into a TOURIST TRAP!! We had very bad experience. Firstly a waitress served us a basket of bread, 2 small croquettes, few olives and 4-5 mini travel-sized cheese and butter which we didn’t order. She didn’t tell us how much they charged. I thought such little things wouldn’t be expensive, so I didn’t ask about the price, and the menu also didn’t show the price of these little appetizers. Then we ordered crunchy chicken wings and drumsticks (€8/5pieces), 2 x Kalifa style pork loin (€13,5 each) and 1.5L bottled water (€2,5). At the same time, a waiter served us another small appetizer “pig ears” which we didn’t order. He said it’s delicious but we didn’t like it at all. They were bland and just soaked in oil. We guessed chicken wings and drumsticks were frozen stuffs. They just deep fried them but the inside of drumsticks were still cold. Lastly, the presentation of “Kalifa style” pork was really mediocre. Combinations were odd too. 4 pieces of bite-sized pork chop, a half slice of tomato, 1 shrimp, some soggy French fries and dried rice. The whole dish was tasteless and greasy. As it was kalifa style, I supposed it must be their “signature” dish, but I was totally wrong. At the end, the bill was €50. They charged about €10 for those little appetizers which we didn’t order. Overcharged and bad food!! I strongly DON’T...
Read moreWonderful authentic Portuguese restaurant. If you are one of those Brits who thinks everyone speaks English, this place isn't for you! I had the opportunity to practice my appalling Portuguese, so I loved it. The menu is all in Portuguese, so if that is a problem, make sure you are comfortable with using Google Translate. I had the Bacalhau á Brás which was wonderful. My partner had the veal, which I was relieved to see was pink, not white. It was magnificent. The waiter couldn't have been more helpful. The prices are amazing compared to the touristy parts of Portugal. Convert, 2 mains and 3 beers for €33. That would have easily been €50 on the Algarve or...
