Restaurante Santiago — Restaurant in Castelo Branco

We went in Restaurant Santiago due to its good ratings and I have to say it was worth it! This place is a cosy, puristic restaurant and it was filled with locals when we arrived. The waiter/owner welcomed us very friendly and accompanied us with his service the whole evening. As a foreigner, you have to know, that there is no set menue in this restaurant. But the waiter is able to tell you all available dishes in english. The atmosphere is family and you feel like in a good friends place. We were in the area and decided to head to Santiago for dinner due to the ratings and the ratings definitely did not lie! João explained the menu to us and gave some recommendations which were really helpful. Their food was amazing- the fish (not pictured) was really fresh, the steak was perfectly done to medium-rare and we had a salad too, which was refreshing to have with the steak. Excellent restaurant full of local people. Great atmosphere. There’s no menu. Instead the waiter tells you the set meal: soup, main and dessert. We did not want soup so we had one salmon and one dorade. Both were cooked to perfection and came with buttered cabbage and potatoes. We shared an almond tart. The food was delicious.
