Baía Sol — Restaurant in Espinho

My husband and I and our two friends were served chewy, flavorless clams that we all worried would make us sick. We were served white sandwhich bread, bought from a grocery store. Over priced, low quality food in a tourist trap location. Owner walked by our table glaring and angrily watching us after we saw the bread and chose to order just one appetizer. White sandwhich bread at a beach front seafood restaurant? Muscles were chewy, tough, and strange tasting. Waitress questioned why we wouldn't eat the muscles or bread and demanded to know WHY? Bizarre and aggressive, I imagine she was sent by the owner who seems to not understand that niether his chef nor his food were doing the job to keep this place going. Be warned! Try something else. The absolute worse experience of our Portugal trip. Can't remember a worse restaurant experience in my life. We walked in past 3 PM and were advised the kitchen was closed. Should've left it there but waitress insisted we stay for tapas and seafood. Ordered the cream of seafood. What a joke! A can of raw tomato juice with 3 diced shrimps. Served cold and had to go back to get warmed up in the microwave. No bread. Had to resort to toast bread. An unrefrigerated tray of Barnacles was on display and I ordered some. Wonderful traditional portuguese fish restaurant. Right on the beach in espinho this is a great place to sit and hear the sea. Seems to be very popular and it sometimes difficult to get a table even at lunch time so booking might be wise.
