One of the best meals I've had in Madiera thus far. The restaurant is connected to the hole in hole bar which makes having drinks first very easy, the restaurant itself is very well kept with great outside seating, private rooms and tables inside available. The staff are welcoming and efficient, they will also help to explain menu items and suggest wine pairings. They stock some fantastic wines. The menu is not lacking in variety, there will be something for everyone including vegetarians and vegans. The quality of our meal was great, meat dishes are a great choice here as I suspect they have a good butcher/supplier. The sirloin steak and calf liver was excellent, cooked well, seasoned well and tender. Seafood was fresh (however they do not devein prawns) and cooked well. We had a vegetarian join us and the Vegetable lasagna was of the same standard. Sauces and sides were also done very well, however sides do no come with any of the menu items but they are big enough to share. Potato and maize sides are excellent here. Price wise the value for money is good. Will be coming back.

Tonight the selected Chalet Vicente Restaurant offered special valentine day set menue for 30 Euro p.P. excl. drinks, 4 different option for starter for main dishes, starter as well as the desserts, we got additional red wine for 24 Euro p. B. honestly we took the cheapest as the bill reaches already almost 100 Euro for our couple dinner, taste was ok but the expectation could not reach, food photos unfortunatly look much better than the food taste we got, the steak i got was well done but i ordered as usual medium style, also the taste of the starter and dessert flavor little bit behind the taste which we got on the first 2 days after arrival in some of there neighbor restaurants, ambiente was ok, stuff friendly, generally acceptable but for our one week holiday surely we'll find some other option for for forthcoming days.

I think this is one of the best restaurants we've been in Madeira. From the outside it seems a bit dated and doesn't inspire memorable meal but oh boy were we wrong. Apart from the fact that it has a nice shaded garden, the waiters are nice and polite, the food was a-mazing. We had octopus and seafood skewers plus some local shellfish called limpets which we never heard of before. The portions were huge, the food was fresh and tasty and the price was more than reasonable. Plus, as we're not that keen in deep fried food, everything was grilled and not as oily as everything else we tried. Definitely a place to have a good meal.

Nice restaurants and beautiful scenery. Very cozy g garden with lots of pretty plants and the red house. Staff was welcoming and the menu had a great abundance of fresh fruit juices/smoothies which I was impressed with. We’d ordered traditional Madeira garlic bread, piri piri chicken and grilled octopus. For sides we had creamed spinach and sautéed potatoes. The piri piri sauce was delicious, alongside with the spinach and octopus. The only bummer was the side potatoes. We had traditional passion fruit mousse for dessert. It was lovely but maybe a bit too sweet for my liking. Presentation and service was also wonderful.

For a good experience, you're in the right place, we had aperitifs me and my dad, he tried the Mint Poncha which was good and I had a Cannings Gin, we ordered some Bolo do Caco which is essentially Madeiran Style Garlic Bread, and some limpets with garlic and parsley. As for main dish I ordered Duck Rice which I have to say it's amazing, will surely come back for more. As for service we had an excellent experience, we were advised a superb wine under 20€ as per my dads request for certaint types of grape and expectations were surely met. For dessert a beautiful creme brulé and we are set! Definitely recommend!

Heerlijk uit kunnen slapen om op Schiphol ons vliegtuig te halen die pas om 15:40 uur richting Madeira vertrok. Op Schiphol verliep alles eigenlijk zeer voorspoedig, het was er ook niet zo druk. We zaten dan ook op ons gemakje met een bakje koffie en een sausenbroodje op ons vliegtuig te wachten. In het vliegtuig bleek dat we achter elkaar zaten, en ook nog aan het gangpad in plaats van bij het raam. Ik was even vergeten om de stoelen te reserveren. Lesje geleerd voor de terug weg, hopelijk gaat het dan wel goed. Had wat films gedownload voor de reis zodat we samen konden kijken wat nu natuurlijk niet ging. Na toch wel een goede reis gehad te hebben komen we aan in Funchal op Madeira waar we deze keer verblijven waar we toch wel wat trek begonnen te krijgen. Het was een uur of 22:00 uur dus opzoek naar restaurantje om wat tegaan eten, en die hebben we gevonden. Chalet Vicente Restaurante is waar we gingen zitten in de heerlijke buitenlucht, want dat kan hier zo fijn. Onder het genot van een lekker rood wijntje en de heerlijke geuren van het eten van de andere tafels zaten we te wachten op ons eten die niet veel later geserveerd werd. Het bleek een goede keuze te zijn want we hadden heerlijk gegeten. Ik maakte nog de vergelijking met gisteren, toen we ook zo lekker hadden gegeten, maar nu kon ik het soulfood noemen , wat toch echt anders is dan gewoon lekker eten. Goed, uiteraard met dikke pens lekker naar bed waar de meteen in slaap vielen.
