Food was probably the worst Indian food I’ve ever had and I’ve been to many Indian restaurants all around the world. Not only was the food terrible but the customer service was worse. When we walked in we were asked if we had a reservation which we did and the owner’s wife was in denial because “she didn’t see our reservation” until I showed her on my phone. Our food came over 1 hour after we ordered it and people who came after us were served their food before us. When we started asking about how much longer for our food we were told to have patience and calm down. The owner can’t handle even 10 tables of customers (which by the way there are only approximately 10-15 tables at this restaurant) and he can’t handle the rush at busy times when it’s at full capacity. After we were upset after waiting for our food for over 1 hour the owner started sucking up to us and checking on us every 15 minutes and gave us free dessert. We noticed the entire time we were there no one was coming to check on us and all the other tables around us were getting better service than us. The owner’s wife and other staff were walking around making conversation with all the other customers except for us meanwhile we waited over 30 minutes for the 2 water bottles we ordered. Even after waiting 30 minutes for our water bottles we had to ask 2 different staff members when we would be getting our water bottles. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone-especially Indian tourists because they seem to be treating all non-Indian customers better than Indians and the owner himself is Indian. The worst experience ever. It would’ve made up for the service if the food was excellent but even that was one of the worst Indian food I’ve ever had. Will...
Read moreFrom the moment we stepped into Sabor da India, we were welcomed by the warm ambiance and the promise of authentic Indian flavors. The menu is impressively extensive and varied, offering something for everyone—from classic tandoori dishes to rich, flavorful curries.
We were fortunate to be served by Teresa, whose knowledge of the menu made our dining experience seamless and enjoyable. She was attentive, helpful, and guided us in selecting dishes that complemented each other beautifully.
The food itself did not disappoint. Every bite was bursting with flavor, and the standout for us was the garlic and coriander naan—perfectly baked and an ideal match for the curries. We ended the meal on a sweet note with a Mango Kulfi, a traditional Indian ice cream that was both refreshing and indulgent.
Before leaving, we had the chance to thank Sid, the manager, for such a memorable meal and outstanding service. It's clear that both the kitchen and the front-of-house staff are passionate about what they do.
We’ll definitely be back soon—this place is a gem for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine with...
Read moreUh…. where to start with this terrible Friday dinner in Madeira?
I reserved a table online at 12:00 noon, the table was booked for 20:30, we arrived at 20:29 and all the tables were occupied, we were told sorry, we’ll wait until there are tables. (How can we wait? I made a reservation and was counting on something?)
At 20:45 someone left and we were given a table, after 10 minutes they brought us a menu, after 2 minutes we were ready to place an order, but they came up to us 10 minutes later and They asked what we would drink? to which we replied that we wanted to eat, but they refused to order food and now they are only accepting orders for drinks. After 5 minutes, a man came and took an order for food. This is where the very strange wait for the order began, the salad was brought after 1 hour and 20 minutes!!!
The main food arrived after 1 hour and 35 minutes. The food was mediocre and not worth its inflated rating; this establishment deserves a 4.0 rating and no more.
A few days ago, we ate MUCH better Indian food in our neighborhood than here.
I don't recommend it, it's a...
