We have been visiting O.Giro for a month now, like at least twice a week (in Madeira for 2 months). First of all: affordability. While the rest of the places around has prices at around 20EUR to get a full meal with a drink at O.Giro it is way closer to paying around 13 EUR (per person) for a full meal with a drink and a dessert. And the price-to-quality ratio is off the charts! Second of all: the food. If you eat meat that place is for you no doubt. I can definitely recommend both Porky BBQ and Giro in a wrap variation. However! If you don't eat meat or are a vegan there are wrap options for you as well, though slightly more limited (but still delicious). Don't skip on dessert with this one. If you are into something less sweet then a churro with Oreo topping is there, waiting for you. But if want something in the middle I would recommend a churro with a Kinder topping. However if you are in for a sweetness bomb go in straight for the Kinder Milkshake. Last but absolutely not least: the staff. They all speak good English, they give great recommendations, they serve the food quickly, and if you need to rearrange the tables there is no problem (depending on the crowd of course). Most importantly they smile, and they are always positive in a non-intruding way. I basically can't stress how much that place...
Read moreA Disneyland for your tastebuds. I say this because Disneyland (up until this point) HAD the best churros on earth)âŚnow you can find those in Funchal, Portugal! And when you eat them, you will be the happiest eater on earth!
Spectacular! When you order the churro on its own, itâs dipped in cinnamon and granular sugar which is my favorite way to eat a perfectly crispy churro on the outside and thatâs just doughy (but not really warm and soft and tasty-itâs just perfect)âŚ
But then I tried the mixed fruit topping and thatâs delicious and fresh. When you order toppings, the churros come with powder sugarâŚwhich is delicious too.
When we came back for the 3rd nightâŚ(make no mistake, we will be there again tonight for 4 of 4 nights in Madeira) we had Nutella with our churro.
We were sitting by others who were there for their 2nd or 3rd night too!
The people of Madeira are beautiful and welcoming and everyone speaks English. The hikes are breathtaking. But what I will remember forever is the churros!
Bathrooms are very clean (but it wouldnât have mattered, Iâd be back if they were in the pits of Lisboa).
Seating inside and out. Madeira is the New Crowned Queen of Churros by proclamation of tourists worldwide! (And the locals all go here so you know itâs...
Read moreA MUST try in Funchal when youâre craving a healthy yet filling meal. And to balance it out with some sweet calories, their churros are perfect!!
We ate the veggie, and pesto chicken sandwich. Both made with good quality, simple ingredients and tasted incredible. The quality of the bread was great. The chips they serve with the sandwiches are probably the BEST Iâve ever eaten, especially when paired with their homemade garlic sauce/mayo. They even sell this garlic mayo in small bottles (âŹ4 each), and you best believe we bought a few to take back home! For desert we ordered a churro with hazelnut gelato and it was delicious!! The churro was cooked to perfection and had a proper hazelnut flavour.
We loved this place so much, we even stopped by the next day to take an Oreo milkshake - again delicious!!
The pricing is spot on and they have both indoor+outdoor seating. You can sit here and people watch for hours! One of my favourite places in...
