As a local who frequents Atlântico Restaurant for breakfast, I can confidently say it's an experience that exceeds expectations every time. It has become my morning sanctuary, a place to enjoy the most important meal of the day amidst an ambience of serene elegance.

The heart of Atlântico's charm is undeniably their breakfast buffet. The variety and quality on offer are truly remarkable. From freshly baked pastries and vibrant fruit platters to a selection of local and international delicacies, the spread caters to every palate. Each dish is prepared with utmost care, evident in the flavors that seem to dance on your tongue.

But a great meal is incomplete without great service, and that's where Atlântico shines. The staff at the restaurant are the epitome of friendliness and professionalism. They greet you with a warm smile, creating an environment that feels both intimate and welcoming. The team's attentiveness ensures a seamless experience, making each visit an absolute pleasure.

In summary, Atlântico Restaurant at Porto Bay Hotel offers an unparalleled breakfast experience. Whether you're a local seeking a delightful start to your weekday or a visitor looking to savor the flavors of Funchal, Atlântico is a must-visit. The exquisite breakfast buffet coupled with the staff's amiable service creates a harmonious blend of gastronomy and hospitality that's hard to resist. I can't recommend it...

One of the best meals we have had on the island in three weeks! This restaurant has had a chequered history but under the current ownership the food is magnificent. Apologies for the length of this review but this charming restaurant, right next to the Atlantic, deserves it. I'll talk you through our experience now ...

Aperitif - Verdelho (medium dry) Madeira - unusually good quality. Starter - both couldn't resist the salmon tartare - exquisite - refreshing and light with gentle Asian flavourings of lemon grass, ginger and chilli. We were spoilt for choice - some temptingly different starters on this menu. Mains - having been starved of it for weeks, I really fancied pasta so I had the linguine with cherry tomatoes and prawns - SO tasty and much more exciting than its title, and Clive had a melt-in-the-mouth rib-eye steak drizzled with house pesto, with an inventive salad including almonds and pine nuts. We shouldn't have, but couldn't resist adding a side of fried maize, an island speciality - it was the best we'd ever had - light as air and deliciously crisp but not oily - perfect. Dessert - unsurprisingly, we couldn't manage one, but a tempting choice was available.

We will definitely return (probably more than...

Having been to Madeira many times and having walked past Atlantic, I decided to investigate as its not our usual type of restaurant. Why not? It's somewhere different, beautiful weather for eating outside and my birthday! We'd booked in advance and upon arrival was promptly seated, over looking the ocean, bliss! Our server was called Ricardo and he was welcoming, attentive and funny (just the right amount). We shared the alheria croquettes with mustard/honey sauce as a starter and oh wow, what a taste sensation that was! We've never had anything like that before and it was delicious. I finally settled on chicken with sautéed okra and hubby pork fillet. Both delicious dishes with tasty vegetables. I've never have a dessert but having read the reviews and feeling lovely and relaxed, I ordered the lemon meringue pie and hubby an irish coffee. Absolutely stunning dessert and I had it all to myself! A fantastic evening, delicious food, wonderful surroundings -...

The food was fantastic. I got the Burrata salad and the sea bass. The mix of flavors was simple and refined. That's exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, though I made a reservation for the patio, they were not seating anyone on the patio. They said it was due to cross winds, but there was not as much as a breeze. The whole restaurant was full and quite stuffy (no AC) with little view from where I was sitting. To me, having worked in the industry previously, it seemed like they were more short staffed and wanted to keep people consolidated. I understand these things happen, so I didn't let it ruin the experience. The one big complaint I have is that when you order sparkling water, it is not a sealed bottle. They fill their own bottles and charge you for it (the same or more than any restaurant for a bottle of water... I think it was 3.25E). If it comes from the tap or the bar gun, it should be free. Other than that, good food, good prices.
